With regards to power, the truth is somewhere in the middle. If a power punch wobbles another fighter then yes it weighs more. If neither guy is getting wobbled then it's just whoever is landing the cleaner power shots. Neither guy was in serious trouble in this fight so you gotta give Canelo credit for landing those shots.

Remember there are 4 criteria: clean punching, effective aggression, ring generalship, and defense. Eating punches also marks a fighter down for defense.

GGG is not human the dude is like a Terminator just laughing when you hit him definitely a full fledged big middle weigh with a granite chin how do you discourage this guy from coming on you, first you need a super stamina to bombard him for 36 minutes don't try to knock him out be happy to win a split decision or a draw.

This post absolutely shattered the current record for use of the word "torque" in one post.

What I'm saying is that a boxer gets extra credit if his shot hurts his opponent, as opposed to if it doesn't.

I could respond to this and destroy your life but I'm really not in the mood at the moment so I'll just post these pics instead

And yes, that rather intimidating looking bicep in the second one belongs to yours truly

Not just backed up though - he almost stumbled back - he was flat footed - exhausted with his mouth hanging open gasping for air. Pretty much sums up the fight.

That's the shot he slept Khan with and Golovkin straight took it and walked forward. Then Canelo's lookin' at him like "You for real?"

That's not just overrating power way too much as a scoring criteria, but misunderstands the point of boxing and is idiotic. I like to say a punch is effective if it 'takes the play away'. Meaning hard enough to get the guy's attention, keep him in a postion to land again, or prevent him from throwing or coming forward as much or as well. Mayweather was indeed not just a 'clean' puncher but an 'effective' puncher. Punches that roll the opponents eyes to the back of his head shouldn't be considered more effective than punches that don't. Effective means affecting the action and control of the boxing match, not affecting brain cells.

It's clean punching first, effective punching second, then ring generalship, with defence and 'effective aggression' being aspects of ring generalship. How effective Golovkin and Canelo were is what made some rounds hard to score, as they both were certainly effective for periods. Golovkin's chin kept him in the fight more than he otherwise would be, but didn't make Canelo's punches a bit less effective.

Ok - Here's a scenario. You land a partially blocked blow on me - it staggers me and forces me back to the ropes. I recover and land a clean shot on your chin, but it has no effect and you continue your attack.

Who has the advantage in the round?

the only problem with that example is no one in this fight was staggered or in danger of going down.

i still can't get over the fact that people here are giving rounds to a fighter that took punches because he showed how great his chin was. I've never in my entire life heard anything like that.
