What? Even Pep for his defensive mastery was caught hard and flush from time to time and Tunney had trained hard not to be caught by Dempsey's left hook and it happened. Whats your point?

Most who have fought won't be calling Tony trash as they know what it takes to be in with the men he had the guts to go against, and the ones he beat. Tony knew what he was doing, had good power, and had a style fit for his abilities, and he was tough.

Most do not understand 70 years later but Galanto was a very feared puncher in his day. This is why Louis fought a counter punching style during this fight trying to take care not to be caught. The few times he was caught were where he stood flat footed.

Pretty funny Life Magazine write-up of Galento:

"Because he has no defense, no footwork, no deception, he terrifies his opponents with loud bellows, butting with his head and waving his arms like a windmillÂ….most of his victims have been pushovers and stumble bums."

yes. sure he was a tough man. i was talking about comparing him and tua.. not even close... tua was wider, galento was a pig, prime 226 tua was a monster not a fat, stronger, hits much harder, took a better punch, was faster... tua was better in everything

With all that he couldn't floor the best heavyweight of his era, yet Galento did.

it means a complete ****... they did not fight in the same era. the skinny, lhws ,cruisers and big bums of the era of galento would get smashed by tua. galento would be garbage in the 90s and 00s i repeat GARBAGE!!! he would not be in the top 30 in that era

Who wrote the story, where is the by line? Must've been the loud bellows, that staggered and dropped ATG Louis. Look Galento, was just a rough, tough guy "fighting" since he was crude, had no boxing skills and relied on his hook, he did what he could. Yes he was prone to using dirty tactics, butting, raking, thumbing, hitting low, but give the guy his due, in a 21 month period he fought Louis, Nova, and both the Baer brothers. Sure he lost three out of the four and beat the other on dirty tactics, but just getting in the ring with all four, who had better skills, were taller and who all could punch, the combined record of the four was 176-19-4, 140ko's, please give the guy some credit. He was short, had no boxing skills and over relied on his hook, he did what he could with what he had. The matchmakers in those days had a slew of all kinds of heavyweights, so why did they match Galento vs those guys? Everybody including the writer of the Life magazine knew what he was and what type of fighter he was, and still they used him. I wonder why? There must've been a reason.
