Pep did things I've never seen another fighter come close too, his out jabbing taller-longer armed men like Sandy is not an easy thing to do. His feet and body feints I tried to copy for years with little success, and in this bout the much lighter hitting Pep usually won the exchanges. There wasn't a boxing move or punch Willy wasn't the master of, if he had also had ko power he'd be a candidate for greatest ever.
Pep stays behind his jab very well and shows some nice subtle footwork here as he shuffles off to his left to close the distance as he switches to the left hook. I need to watch those fights. I've only seen bits and pieces before.
Pep won fight 2 in what they say was a marvelous boxing display. Pep does not get the high level of respect he should. Maybe the greatest boxer ever to live.
Saddler dominated Pep in their first go which he won by ko, Pep outboxed and won most of the exchanges in winning their second fight and was leading in both the third and fourth bouts when he was stopped due to injuries.
I like Pep's fake lunging left hook halfway through that morphs into a few short hooks inside. Brilliant!!
Incredible. One of the greatest of all time. I had no idea how much bigger Saddler was than Pep. He looks like he is in the wrong weight class. I can see why Pep had his hands full.
Great catch Peps only issue was he lacked power hence Saddler stopping him in 3 of 4. Peps record was amazing pre plane crash
