What if Lara felt the power, got on his bike and ran until Golovkin chopped him down a KOD him in 5 or 6 rounds??

Would any of the non-G crowd on here even be impressed or give him any credit at all? Or would they just say "yep, Lara was just too small. GGG needs to fight Ward ...blah blah blah..."

Would it do anything as far as Golovkins drawing power? His legacy?? His popularity? I say no, I don't think it would. Completely pointless, no win fight for Golovkin IMO.

I've tried mentioning that Lara was only ever one fight away-Jacobs- from becoming mandatory. They don't want to hear that

The real reason Al doesn't do that is that he makes less money that way. Logically, Al would likely rather cash Lara out against GGG than have him spoil one of his more marketable fighters. Landing Jacobs first will also be tricky because of this: If GGG beats Lara first, Jacobs is still mandatory and Haymon will collect fees on 2 GGG fights.

If Haymon gives up Jacobs first, there could well be no opportunity for Lara in the foreseeable future between Alvarez and the other middleweight contenders and mandatories.

By sending in Lara first, he lands two paydays instead of 1, and the path is cleared at 154 for the more marketable fighters in his stable.

 

Yep, you bring up very valid points and I see it the same way. Not sure how that point of view can be refuted or debated against reasonably but I'd like to hear it....

No because I don't think Lara is mediocre. He's a good fighter just not to the level some people have him on.

 

To be fair I cannot recall one single victory Angulo has over a legit contender.

But it's not only Angulo he has struggled with. Vanes ran him close twice, Molina should have got the W, Canelo beat him in a close fight.

Remember Molina is really a welterweight and had previously lost to Alvarado and got schooled by Bundrage after the Lara fight.

Fighters can have off days I'm not disputing that but every time he's fought s legitimate ranked opponent he's had a close fight apart from Trout.

I hope the fight gets made, but only if Saunders and Jacobs cannot.

Put it this way if you want to look at it like this Lara has struggled with the level of opposition that Golovkin has yet to break a sweat with.

You even admit that Golovkin would beat Lara so we know what happens if and when it happens suddenly Lara is a smaller fighter.

 

Borderline top 10, yes or were at the time but 8 think Rosado is a better fighter at 160.

I use logic and facts, you use emotions.

Yes I believe GGG would beat Lara, doesn't mean they shouldn't fight.. If that's the case then GGG shouldn't have fought any of the bums or C level fighters he's fought.

My entire reason for wanting the Lara-GGG fight is to see how well GGG does against a fighter with real world level skill set who is in his prime, and who has defense.

It would be a good guage because Lara has the style where size is not as a big factor since he fights off the back foot.
