After watching the final press conference and the weigh in it made sense to me why it seems so awkward. Pacquaio gets giggle spells, Cotto keeps looking away. They shake hands a lot. While Roach and Santiago are having their little spat Pac nudges Cotto for a stare down but it doesn't happen, instead they shake hands and when smiles appear on both faces Cotto looks away very quickly. Well, it makes sense. Both these fighters really respect each other, they can't hide it, but they have to remember when the bell rings they have to try and take each others heads off which they will do. So yeah, took me all day to watch these things but I don't see fear in either fellow, I see a lot of respect and admiration. I bet they're fans of each other... By the way, Santiago started the tussle with Roach but he looked extremely nervous and that's probably the reason. What sucks is one of these guys will lose. Haven't felt like this since Mosley/Cotto.
Well respect is there, no doubt. I only remember Pacquiao giving serious looks and staredowns to Marquez and Morales for obvious reasons. Morales for beating him the first time and Pac obviously showing determination to avenge that loss and Marquez for the draw and close fight.
I couldn't be more on board with that sentiment. I have followed both of these guys for several years now and have great respect for them both, and like them both a lot. I just hope both men give a good account of themselves and don't get hurt too badly. Neither man has it easy.
sometimes if Pac really feels like he is gonna kick his opponent's ass he kind of feels bad about it and doesn't want to stare him down and add insult to injury
There's nothing quite like the build up to a big fight. I remember Hatton fans saying Manny wasn't looking their man in the eye.
Two guys that respect each other and dont like to talk ****. But that doesn't mean they wont try to knock each other out tonight.
It's a bit annoying seeing the Cotto trolls post nonsense like the following: - Pac looked scared.....well he looked scared against Oscar and Hatton too. We all know what happened there! - Roach kicked off with Santiago.....Bollocks, the video clearly shows it was Santiago who initiated the minor altercation. When this fight was announced, I was split down the middle in terms of who I'd want to win. Both men a very admirable, and I've got love for both. But the constant **** talking by Cotto's trolls (just the trolls, not the fans) is making me pray for a Manny win.
I like both fighters about the same...neither are my favorite but they're both up there for me. That being said I think the Pac fans (trolls) are much worse than the Cotto ones and there's about 50 times more of them. Like I said I don't have a favorite between the 2 but Pac fans have been so annoying/ridiculous that I'm cheering for Cotto to knock him out.
