Has anyone else noticed how excellent Gilbert is when he's in the other Cesar Gracie fighters corners? I'm just watching Shields v Akiyama from last night and Im amazed at how he just keeps calm and tells Shields exactly what he needs to do at the end of the second. I've noticed this before when he's in Nick Diaz's corner and he's always very good. It should also be noted that he wasn't there for the Condit fight when Nick really could have been doing with some constructive advice between rounds. I think he could potentially be a top class trainer when he retires.

Agree. Whenever I've seen him in the corner he is calm, clear and concise with his instructions and doesn't seem to bull****.

I agree with the OP on this, Gil's corner work was good, clear calm and concise

Melendez is actually listed on the CG MMA website as there official proffesional strategist , and has been for over 2 years now

I can only he imagine he doesnt cheif corner Nick because he's just a bit of **** , and seeing as though he's senior to Melendez @CG i dont imagine he takes his advice too well

He should do though , Melendez has an excellent strategic head on his young shoulders , he's very impressive when cornering , and actually devising his own strategy's , particularly impressive against Aoki

I bet Gil would have told Nick what was really happening against Condit.
