Enjoyable fights, still struggle with this Saudi fight cards, first time I've watched DAZN without mute in ages, can't say I like their production

 

Yesterday was the least painful until the pre-main event concert. At least we didn’t get Hearn jumping in the ring at every opportunity though.

 

I think the production was fine yesterday. It was strange to see a Saudi event from such a small arena with almost no spectators and atmosphere.

I couldn't help but smile when Michael Buffer said : "- to the thousands in the audience..."

 

CBS fought his heart out and showed great fighting spirit.

Unbelievable that he got through the 12 rounds.

Respect.

 

I think having good close fights, and it literally being dead silent is just weird

 

The constant, please buy DAZN stuff was getting annoying

 

For me it wasn’t like the Calzaghe v Lacy fight. Joe won every round of that fight whereas I gave CWS 4 rounds which the judges agreed with. He was competitive in most rounds and clearly lost but it wasn’t a beat down for me. Lacy took a severe beating in the Calzaghe fight and wasn’t even competitive.

 

CBS never gave up but I think Zurdo bangs harder than Calzaghe and he took an absolute pounding last night.

The double 1-2 combinations were very impressive.

At 34 years of age, I don't think we will see CBS hit the same level after that pasting last night.

 

I totally agree with that. The Saudi card yesterday was really good with several well matched fights but it feels flat.

It's a bit like when Matchroom has a card in Monte Carlo in front of 300 - 500 spectators.

They will need to get some spectators in who can create a bit of an atmosphere.

Spot on. I gave him 3 rounds and a drawn round. Calzaghe, as you say, beat Lacy easily.

 

Bud, a clinic is essentially a complete shut out on the cards of boxing at the most elite level and it wasn’t anything like the actual clinic that Calzaghe Lacy was.

 

I gave him minimum 4, maximum 5 at a push

Zurdo hit him alotin the face and marked him up bad but Smith always looks half dead in the actual fight

Smith was fine and can continue to earn

Right man won of course but BILLAM Smiths ugly work is not being recognised here

 

No problem with people's views - it was more that the damage inflicted on both was similar when looking at them at the end of the fights.

Calzaghe was a great boxer who done Lacy career limiting damage - he never recovered.

Zurdo looks more heavy handed than Joe and CBS ate a serious volume last night.

Hope he fully recovers but I don't think we see the same level of fighter that entered the ring last night.
