Joshua "The Rocket" Edwards is supposed to be one to watch. I've only seen him last year in Paris, looked pretty good.

I don't know much about Dominicc "The Dangerous One" Hardy, except that he's a 35 year old glass cannon with four knockout victories and stopped thrice in under ten bouts. And he's the same size as Edwards, for whatever that's worth.

 

Boom, blitz KO1. Edwards stalked with his hands low, harrying him with the jabs, and then basically obliterated him with the first spiteful power shot with the rear right hand coming up unseen from behind the back.

Beto Duran and Nonito Donaire interview Edwards. He acknowledges that he doesn't like to come out and waste time like some heavyweights. Donaire compliments his jab. Edwards notes that he saw Hardy pawing & reaching past his jab and realized quickly the KO was right there for him.

The Rocket says he trains for high workrate and high accuracy so he isn't surprised in the moment when he feels someone crumble under his power. Donaire asks if he learned anything from a fight this easy. Edwards says that his corner is seeing things in real time he might not be, so it's an opportunity to listen to what they're saying and pick up on nuances.

He says his dad is his entire motivation, from when he was very little.

He is rooting on Paul, whom Edwards befriended when he partnered with the USA national amateur boxing team as brand-building consultant for the Olympics.

 

Pacific, same as the fight itself...so in about three hours (but yeah that's annoying)

 

I have very little interest in the rest of the prelims. Was keen to see Alvarado and Edwards, mainly.
