After the Smith victory, Zurdo's name has mentioned against the likes of Opetaia, Beterbiev and Canelo. However one fight I would be curious to see would be against Andy Ruiz. Ramirez has mentioned his desire to move up to heavyweight one day. Assuming he fights someone like Opetaia, and regardless of the result, whether he wins or loses, his move to heavyweight could happen somewhere around 2026. And seeing as how Ruiz probably won't be in contention anytime soon for a shot at a major title, this could be a decent fight for him should the opportunity materialize. The biggest appeal for this fight would be a Mexican clash at heavyweight. Something which has never happened before. Well at least not on such a high level.
like Ruiz is going to be in any condition to fight in 2026? He was in terrible shape last fight and broke his hand mid-fight.
An out of shape Fat Andy (I know, I know), would have Zurdo in hell. Jesse Hart had Zurdo in hell twice. There's at least 5-7 LHWs and CWs that beat him currently. So to act like he'd do something at HW, even against a post prime guy is crazy.
Andy probably doesnt have enough killer instinct to stop Zurdo. He could hurt him multiple times but will not have the energy to keep him hurt. Zurdo has a good chin and is fit. I'd pick Zurdo by decision comfortably
If it happens in 2026, Zurdo wins comfortably The Andy Ruiz of today is terrible, him in 2 years' time will be even worse
This aside -- my proud 'murican side wonders why Mexico gets to claim American latinos of Mexican descent? The ****? Andy Ruiz is an American latino born in LA. Him fighting Gilberto Ramirez is a US vs. Mexico fight. What's next, Mexico, y'all gonna try to claim Bam Rodriguez? Hell no. He's a Texan latino. Send in your best, Mexico, he's probably gonna KO them. To be serious, I do wonder why this happens. And I what I said above I say with love -- my wife was born and raised in Mexico city, and there's nowhere in the world I have more love for than Mexico (other than my native Texas). But, come on. Am I Russian because my great-grandma was born there? I'd tell you **** off, I'm Texan.
