I disagree.
I think the two fights with GGG are his best performance. He had to dig deep in both fights and he did very well.

 

And came up short twice.

 

Great defense no doubt.

 

And lost both. Sad.

 

Even when he "Dug Deep" into the Old Ped box...

 

I was actually thinking the samething. He ate jab after jab vs GGG.
Mayweather slapped him around easily.
And now he's Wilfred Benitez all the sudden.

 

I think Canelo has a pretty good defence although not elite. His lack in this area is negated in having a good beard yeah GGG jabbed him but he took it pretty well. I've given him grief in the past for PEDS. cherry picking and gift decisions but it's hard to deny that he's improved over the years and clearly puts the work in. The talk of best ever is a little hyperbole to say the least by his nut hugging fangirls but then we get that with all the elite fighters.
