    Appreciation Thread
Giovani Segura Aguilar is a 5'3 33 year old Flyweight/Super Flyweight with a record of 32-4 28 KO's 2 KO losses. Born in Altamirano, Guerrero, Mexico and fighting out of Bell, California, USA. I love Giovani Segura, he's maybe my favorite Flyweight fighter, he's nearing the end of his storied career, but I still think he has one last hurrah in him. Born on April Fool's Day Giovani is the definition of a tough little son of a b****, the toughness he showed while fighting with a massive hematoma growing out of the side of his head against Brian Viloria was amazing, then he walked into Puerto Rico to face the undefeated Ivan Calderon and what ensued was a modern masterpiece in the sport one of the Fights Of The Year of 2010, culminating in an 8th Round KO win for Segura, and then he knocked Calderon's ass out again the next year even quicker. He followed that FOTY up a few years later with yet another contender for FOTY against the great Mexican Hernan "Tyson" Marquez, in which he stopped the game Marquez in the 12th round of a war. Sadly in 2014 Segura went up against Juan Francisco Estrada a match in which he was outclassed and beaten down but was still far more durable than many of Gallo's opponents eventually he was stopped in the 11th round. But I have faith Segura still has another epic in him. So Check Out and Appreciate one of the unheralded little beasts of the flyweight division. Pay Homage To The Tough Brave Aztec Warrior Giovani Segura.:toney:toney:toney:toney

Sugura is rough and wild, but enjoyable to watch. I think it was the Canchilla fight i first saw him, if i remember right. Terrible technique, but good entertainment.

Always thought he was to big and fresh for Calderon.

I would have lead with the fact that Segura has a 76% KO rate and is one of the p4p hardest punchers in the sport. He's pretty unsophisticated in terms of style, but that didn't keep him from making Ring Magazine's top 10 p4p list after he beat Calderon. At the time, he was seen as sort of a wrecking ball like Golovkin or Kovalev are now, although I think they have much better skills. Of course, he was overrated and just beat Calderon on sheer physical talent and youth. Also, when he was top 10, Ring was regularly overrating guys with a lot of KOs. Around that time Juan Manuel Lopez was also on the p4p rankings. But how many fighters can say they were once ranked top 10 in the world?
