Giovanni Andrade is a bum for a 60-11 record

  1. 90% of the people he beat have losing records. Everyone who was an elite fighter murdered him early. He's beaten guy that were 0-18, 0-17, 0-10, and 5-30. It is a great record padder for Rigondeaux though

The other way of looking at it is, with maybe two or three exceptions he has only lost to elite or borderline elite fighters in their primes. Give the guy a break, he's 39. So he's gotten KTFO by guys half his age over the last several years. Other than Tapia he didn't start getting sparked early until Sidorenko (and even after that nearly lasted the distance with Celestino Caballero) - and Tapia sparked him early because, well - here's a little newsflash - Tapia was a monster. It's not like he was ever matched with any middle-ground guys (like D or C or even B- level) along the way - it was either the Fs that litter his win column or the minimum B+'s that fill up his L column (since '94 anyway).

Have you seen him fight or just looked at boxrec? He's not a terrible fighter, he's experienced, has a busy if not exactly pretty jab, applies pressure economically without much wasted movement, keeps a high guard and parries to offset his defensive liabilities (no head movement and less than nimble feet), throws punches in combination (albeit usually 2 or 3 max), and he's a heavy-handed guy who's also a good finisher. My eyebrows will not be raised if Guillermo gets caught and derailed (even though he should be heavily favored). Just looking at boxrec and writing this guy off as a bum could set you up for a system shock.

This fight isn't for clout dude. This fight is for Giovanni's regional WBA title that would make him a top 5 WBA contender. He's gonna get his title shot in NO time.

This guy is a good fighter. WAY to early to put Guillermo Rigondeaux in there. WAY too early.

This is a ****ing dumbass amateur move that's not going to do any good for the fighter himself.

Like I said - expect the prospect to pass the test.

Don't be at all surprised if he fails, though. And don't take away credit by saying "Oh the guy lost to a total bum, he's no good...", either.

Here's the thing. Your talking about the most dominant Amateur boxer probably ever. Guillermo is by far the favorite going into this one, but that isn't even the point as I said, a win here would make him a top 5 WBA title contender. He's on the fast track.

Amateurs is not the pros. Ask Michael Bentt about that one.

It's not about whether he beats him. Oleg Maskaev beat a few of the experienced vets he was put against early. Peter Raechmacher knocked down Floyd Patterson in his pro debut.

But this is a bad way to build a future champ.
