Yes, I remember him. He had a couple ESPN fights in '84. He also lost a decision to the infamous Luis Resto (who teamed with Panama Lewis to destroy Billy Collins Jr.'s career). I liked Bovenzi. He was a good, solid professional fighter. My vague recollection is that he was a solid technical fighter with a good left hook. He was more of a Top 25/30 fighter than top 10 contender. He had 2 good wins on ESPN then I don't think he fought again. Not sure why.
p.s. ESPN had some good action fighters around that time: Freddie Roach, Tommy Cordova, Vampire Johnson who they brought back regularly. Bovenzi put on good shows and I'd be interested myself why that didn't continue.
Bovenzi beat a top prospect that was like 22 /0 losses.He was suppose to fight for the title but a medical exam said he wasn't fit to fight.He then went on to open a pizza shop.He is in some trouble with the law from what I heard.

When i boxed luis resto he also cheated and had plaster under his boxing gloves...i wondered why i was always so swollen after fighting with him. I found out later that i was right.....he did fight dirty!!!!!!!!!!!
