I think Arum was talking to him and he suddenly got ranked and thought he was worth a million dollars to fight. Arum went elsewhere. Basically, Lorenzo priced himself out of the fight. People knew the kind of money Arum was offering to Duddy. When that fight fell through the people next in line started demanding the same money Duddy would have gotten in spite of the fact they couldn't sell a single ticket, even to their own mothers. Duddy brought fans and sold tickets. Arum 'sold' to the lowest bidder. Lockett.

I think in order to run from something you need to be chased by it

I gotta tell you the truth Giovanni has fought no one but club fighters but I really think he has talent, he is a tall boxer puncher who just might be able knockout both champs.:deal I saw the same thing in Pavlik a few years ago when he was knocking out nothing but club fighters:hat

Ive only seen him once against somebody pretty average.
Great athlete, has talent but I just felt he didnt put it all together that well. A little more flash than substance but as I said Ive only seen the dude once.

Also very hard to gauge him when he has been fighting such a dismal level of opposition, I cant understand why he gets ranked so high.

    Here's his record

    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=89031&cat=boxer

The best win of his career is Archak Ter Meliksetian a bout that was a war from what I have read.
He also was a top amateur.
I have only seen one fight of Giovanni's the one he had with Robert Kamya, the guy is good if a little rough around the edges and will be a real challenge for the champs.
I really think by all rights Lorenzo should have fight a Eliminator with Sebastian Sylvester or Raul Marquez.:deal
