Give a letter grade for Floyd Mayweather's Welterweight-LMW Resume.

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by ConserveWater, Oct 23, 2012.

  1. Sharmba Mitchell Zab Judah Carlos Baldomir
Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Ricky Hatton,Juan Manuel Márquez, Miguel Cotto,Victor Ortiz.

Hatton and Ortiz were prime. Marquez was a great win. Miguel Cotto is a great win. (I also feel Manny's win over Cotto was great). Judah was a very good win, Baldomir and Mitchell were annoying but solid wins.

Oscar was not shot, but definitely past prime. Mosley was definitely past prime.

    Overall I say it's a good WW/SWW Run.

    Grade:B

Definitely a B. Missing out on Pac hurts his resume, and vice versa.

    Cotto/Oscar weer not at welter.

HOw can you give hima B?Oscar De La Hoya was not at welterweight it was at superwelterweight,154.And so was Miguel Cotto. When Cotto was a welterweight MAYWEATHER WANTED NO PARTS of him.And you give him a B?He retired to avoid getting that ass tapped by Paul williams,Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margrito and you give him a B?Seriously?AND Manny Pacquio? Are you serious?Thats FOUR fighters!!!!His grade is no higher than a C-,no doubt.

Pretty much what everyone here says.

    Inactivity really hurts as well.

  9. Well.. the poll stated WW-SWW. So Oscar and Cotto are included. That makes it a B/B+. What does Paul Williams have to do with this? If he had fought Paul Williams it will be a A- (assuming he wins)

Why is it okay for Floyd to duck fighter after fighter and brag about being undefeated?De la hoya wasn't that good, and mayweather has yet to truly make a stamp on the 154 pound division.

On paper AND in reality, he had no business fighting either time at 154.

So going up and beating one of the better fighters there in Oscar and the then RING #1 in Cotto is, essentially, just a very impressive bonus as opposed to fighting some ranked WW's like Zaveck or Berto.

As for not making a stamp on the 154 pound division, as you say... Obviously. He's only fought there twice.

And, as for a letter grade, that is utterly pointless.
