Mayweather Sr. is getting a lot of unjustified blame here as far as I can tell.

Do people really think that Mayweather's advice and training were evidenced by the way Hatton chose to come out in that fight? Does that look like any type of way of fighting or boxing that Mayweather advocates??

Obviously not. And he gave sensible corner advice in between the rounds.

Thats not to say hes without faults.. but this one is undeniably on Hatton.

Its obvious for one reason or another he thought and chose to come out like it was Tszyu and he would just try and muscle and strength his way to victory behind single and double powershots.

    --------------------------------

The Clottey reference which is a different issue, is because its true. Clottey has the timing of an elite level fighter, but no one has taught him / he hasn't learned how to follow up on the openings that he see's and initially capitalizes on, with combo's and punch selection that cause further damage and go for the kill.

Joy Flo was screaming at Hatton between rounds about not tucking his chin like they practiced all through camp.

If he really spent the entire camp basically teaching Hatton a different way to tie his shoelaces, then, at best, the camp was a distraction. At worst? Well, fill in the blank however you like.

Mayweather did what he was hired to do.

At the end of the day Hatton was the one who chose to attempt to change his style. Can't blame Mayweather, its on Hatton.

Yes he did was he was hired to do... Show up late on a regular basis, and talk about how great he is.

Whatever dude. You think that Mayweather didn't prepare Hatton --- with his methods of training/ boxing style --- 100%? Bull.

What was Mayweather hired to do - rebuild him like the Six Million Dollar Man?

Apparently, he wasn't teaching Hatton defensive tricks to tweak his style; he tried to change the whole foundation like he was a tabula rasa or had a decade or so to work with.

If you hire a guy to build an extension bedroom over your garage & reshingle but, instead, he goes into the basement and starts moving support columns around, the fact that you hired him doesn't absolve him of blame.

Mayweather Snr. would teach Clottey to "move" his head like he tried to teach Hatton but of course, this is an unfair advantage for Clottey. big ass headed mo****a..

Uhh.. in this case he is doing all renovation with your consent.. no rather your encouragement. At any time you can stop him and say, no don't want this renovated. So yea, still the customer ... or in this case.. Hatton is to blame.

Because what you described is a lack of clear communication on Hattons end about what he needed or wanted done.

Please. Clottey is too intelligent to try and do something naive like revamp his whole style. He would just use the bits and pieces of boxing common sense that seperate good fighters from great figthers

Mayweather focuses on using defense to create offense. Bit of a difference then just defense alone and it would be great addition to Clotteys defensive style

 Either you're not a homeowner or there's no inspection, license, permit & union laws where you live. Or maybe you don't mind being in Superior Court every time your curb cracks or tree grows too close to a power line or your gas meter's read.

    It's not Clottey, it's Mayweather.

I was bullshitting about ruining him. But I still think Mayweather is very overrated and Clottey shouldn't hire him. But oh well.
