Yes this is another pro Haye post, albeit for the right reasons!! I'm all for fan rivalry provided it does not stray into areas one would call personal. Recent threads and accompanying posts on this boxing board are for want of a better phrase heinous and unacceptable.

    Why the hate:

    1. Haye's new to the heavyweight scene, over confident, boastful and denigrates established heavy weights. I agree, but the caveat here is it's self promotion; it's what the stale uncompetitive division needed, and his track record has shown that he's always been willing to take risks.... Will he be the saviour? We all know he's one punch away from getting KTFO and Vitali's more than capable of delivering this to him.

    2. Haye is mixed race (i'm being polite here when we peruse how he's been referred to on this board) - so the f*** what!! Haye has not used race in anyway to generate interest in this or any previous fight.

    3. Haye's photo holding Wlad's head.... Self promotion at it's best and one sure fire way to get your preferred opponent's attention (at least his brother's). Many say that it's disrespectful..... My retort is simply that it's disrespectful to fans to consistently fight opponents that you know you're going to beat (the rahman fight was a frigging disgrace an promoted puglistic bullying); it's disrespectful to cherry pick opponents; it's direspectful to come to fights overweight and under motivated; it's disrespectful to one's self not to maximise your potential earnings in what we all accept is a very hazardous sport....

Now I might not speak for the many but I certainly speak for the few who are sick and tired of being fed meaningless fights, and watching fighters turn up to fights day dreaming about how they're going to spend their purse after either getting KTFO or lasting the distance and kicking themselves mentally for not preparing themselves properly for a fight they could have won.

With all of the above considered, give Haye a break.:rasta

    I agree.

Boxing needs more people like Haye who seek out the best.

I don't have a problem with Haye being arrogant, cocky, classless or what ever you want to call it. It's just good self promotion.

Haye knows the game. He knows that if he kept his mouth shut and went out there and KO'ed several top HW contenders he still might not get a crack at the Klitschko's. We all know the crappy points of boxing politics and that often the most worthy contenders don't always get their rightful shot at the champion(s).

What get's you a shot at the top man in the division isn't being the best contender. It's being well known and therefore bringing more money to the table. Haye knows this and is doing it.

Is it right? No. Does it work? Yes.

I completely agree with your point about giving Haye for always seeking out the best. I think he is a breath of fresh air and I wish more fighters/champions would get out of their comfort zones and make the big fights.

Good post. I became a fan of Haye's for all the same reaons people like to put him down for. He's a loud self promoter with great boxing ability who is exciting to watch and follow in and out of the ring. In fact when he talks I usually laugh..he's pretty truthful and funny. Haye is exactly the kind of fighter that boxing needs right now. I don't know when the tide turned but fans used to love fighters like Haye. You know guys that climb off the canvas to win, talk big and loud, are vulnerable, etc...essentially all the things some praise other fighters for.

For all the bitching and complaining I hear about heavyweights and heavyweight fights, recycled fighters, old guys, fat guys, boring guys...there sure are a lot of people who hate the one guy that is the antithesis to these things.

I hope Haye sticks around and wins for a long time. He's a shot in the arm of the heavyweight divsion and entertaining as hell. Some people need to get off their soap boxes and just enjoy the sport instead of being so overly critical of it and it's fighters.

Haye is the way. Accept that all ye sinners. Accept the Man God David Haye as your personal lord and boxing savior. He is the only way to salvation.

Yeah, I think Haye brings some excitement into the heavyweight division. Just because he is over hyped doesn't mean we should go the other way and dismiss David.

That being said, he'd have a better shot (punchers chance) against Wlad than iron-chinned Vitaly. I see a patented 7-8 round Klitschko beatdown coming with Haye on the wrong end.

Haye is a breath of fresh air.

15 minutes as a heavyweight... 8 knock downs plus he's been down too. Now that is excitement. He was right to criticise the established heavyweights - other than Wlad and Vitali very very few are in shape and most of the title fights lately have been jokes. Rahman fighting for a title last weekend for **** sakes.

Sure Vitali will be a big favourite for this one but anyone who thinks a guy that punches like Haye has no chance at all needs their head checked. He would have had a better chance vs Wlad, we all know that, but props to him for taking the chance at Vitali while he is around.

Enough of the fat slobs... bring on the real fighters!

Gawd-awful if a guy is hated for wanting to fight the best.
Hayters have a secret crush on him, that's all.

    damn place is so polarized....
