Both guys had a good tear up and seemed to genuinely dislike each other, which made it exciting. Both got hurt early on and seemed to run on pure hate. People talking about glass jaws and the level of opponent clearly don't appreciate what these guys did. If someone has beaten you before, whether as an amateur or not it will affect just as Whyte will be affected seeing how Joshua has progressed so much since then. They both put it on the line and had a good bust up and as Joshua said at the end, this is a learning curve and he realises he made mistakes in the fight and he's going to build and build until he's ready. Both are at a decent level at the moment and I think both will do well in their careers, but it will take time. People talking about the top level guys stopping these two are idiots, they aren't ready for that and they know this, but one day they will be and I suspect both have the potential to win a title. Also, Whyte has a chin made of titanium, don't care what anybody says.
Too many people focusing on the negatives of last night. Had Joshua wiped out Whyte in 2 rounds as it looked like he would after round 1, people would say Whyte was terrible anyway and the fight proved nothing. But AJ was momentarily stunned and lost 2 rounds at most and so the critics are coming out saying he has a glass jaw or that he's a fraud. Either way these people would have criticised him, whatever the result. AJ had his first test, had his first moment of adversity and overcame it. If he can realise what he did wrong and it motivates him to improve it will only make him a better fighter. These are the kind of fights he needs, he needs to be tested and pushed outside his comfort zone more often. As for Whyte he showed he wasn't just an untested fighter with a nice looking record. He showed a good chin, decent power and while he did clearly gas as the fight wore on, he can move on from this. If he can sort out his conditioning he could still be a factor at some point in the future.
Yeah, but it doesn't matter what happens in the real world, the big mouths, dummies, complainers, they'll always make the most noise. It is the nature of the beast. And for some people it seems to be addicting. It's one of the reasons the forum has so little use for anyone passing through for genuine reasons.
Wilder beats them both silly, with ease. This fight showed a major kink in Joshua's skillset. He doesn't fight well on the backfoot and is easily backed up by using the jab. Wilder will have a picnic.
I've watched this three times now, with and without commentary, what I really picked up on in the first 3/4 rounds was, emotion, pride and macho man antics really took its toll on these two, credit where credit is due to both but I feel class prevailed, from mid round 4 onwards. However I do believe this fight would of been completely different if there was no history or bad blood previously.
i wont ****yse the potential fight in full because joshua after the fight gave a very sensible and honest answer to sky news about his future. he said he was not ready for the world title /is still learning/has only been a pro for 2 years /needs to learn of decent but beatable future opponents before he steps up to world title level /has flaws but he will iron them out / that is a refreshing change for a prospect. as to deontay, look at his backing up/he does it with his arms down /head pulled back /chin wide open at 6.7 and poor opposition he usually gets away with it/against a man the same height and with big power in either hand wilder could just as easily expose his kink. wilder is not going to tee off on a joshua type oppnent like he did v dulhaupus because he would be wary of what was coming back his way
Whyte's way of explaining his loss will be "We're 1-1 now. I beat him before, he beat me now, we should fight again". I suspect the next fight to be more cagey if they do get it on again and that would favour Whyte. Just my opinion of course.
Whyte easily outjabbed Joshua and his jab kept Joshua stationary or more often, made Joshua back up. When Whyte used his jab, Joshua's offence was zero. Wilder has a much better jab than Whyte, in all respects. Wilder throws his jab more often and often doubles and triples up on it. He hooks off the jab and his left hook lands with power and is disruptive enough to setup follow up right hands. Joshua should stay away from Wilder for at least 6-8 more fights.
Shouldn't we be praising this 2 prospects fight and go at it I mean he passed a test shouldn't we applaud that
There is always negatives against fighters on this site, Mayweather, PacMan, GGG. AJ is in good company.
