Breakfast: 5 egg omlet 1 yolk, with 1 piece of reduced fat swiss cheese. ( a little honey on top, it sounds weird but it's good.) 1/2 to 1 C oatmeal. The real oatmeal, not the maple brown sugar garbage. A banana, with some blackberries, or blueberries, or strawberries, or boysenberries, or well, you get the idea.

Snack: piece of fruit, or maybe some milk, or tapioca pudding or something. (Tip: Use blue agave instead of sugar for sweetenter. If your making pudding, use skim milk. Use two egg whites instead of 1 whole egg, (extra protein) if your trying to cut cals a bit. Or not. I don't believe egg yolks are bad for you like some people think. But they are dense in cals, that's why I say use the whites instead, because there's not as many cals.

Lunch: Turkey patty or two, or maybe a salmon patty, or maybe a chicken thigh, or breast, or some goat, or any type of lean meat. Even a nice lean piece of steak, really good. Some more whole grain. Maybe have a big ass pb&j sandwich with natural peanut butter. (peanuts & and that's it. None of the soy bean oil garbage peanut butter like Skippy, and Jiff.) On some good whole grain bread, or maybe some organic brown rice, or some quinoa, or barely. Some more fruit, some veggies like broccoli, or green beans, or kale, or spinach.

    Snack: More veggies, or fruit.

Dinner: ( Now that you have the idea) Lean meat, whole grain, fruit veggies, good fats, like olive oil, and nuts. Maybe some milk, or cheese. Don't deny your self some cheese man. A little bit isn't gonna hurt nothin.

Snack: Don't forget that cottage cheese! Really good for ya.

Bottom line: Eat natural foods, but don't deny yourself of a treat every now and then either. You shouldn't worry a damn bit a bout a piece of cheesecake every now and then.

Also, if your a good cook like me you can make a cheesecake that's pretty damn healthy. Ever try Goat's milk, and chedder, reduced fat cream cheese cheesecake using a low gi sweetener? It's the $h!t. Goat's milk isn't a lot of peoples thing, but I personally love the stuff. And it's better than cows milk health wise too.

Good luck, stay focused, and kick ass.

P.S. Keep in mind, this is just a rough guideline.

Well I've been following the research of Dr. Christopher Gardner of Stanford and its fascinating. What he has found is that there is no basic diet plan. Ultimately all diets revolve around carbohydrates and fat, there are no such things as high protein/low protein diets. People will eat the same amount of protein regardless of what kind of diet they are on. Where the calorie swing comes from is carbs or fats. What Dr. Gardner has found is that people are genetically predisposed to respond to high carb low fat or high fat low carb at a break down of about 50/50. This 50/50 split amongst peoples genetic preference is why no one can figure out which kind of diet works best.

Here is a youtube on his original study. He's done much more since then

His experiment was based on 311 women. Men's and women's bodies are very different in how they respond. Interesting video none the less.

Also, he is stating that if you have less carbs, you are automatically going to make up for it in fat, and protein. This is not necessarily true either. If one eats eggs, and oatmeal every day for breakfast and then decides he is not going to eat oatmeal, only eggs and doesn't change anything with the rest of his diet, he is now eating less carbs with the exact same amount of protein, and fats in the other foods he is eating. Only if he decides ok, now I didn't have any oatmeal for breakfast I'm going to make up for it at lunch and eat a chicken breast. Then his argument would be true.

This diet seems very low fat. Why the aversion?

No aversions to fat. The original poster said he needed to cut some pounds so I made the diet a little less calorie dense like with the egg yolk thing. Personally, I never take egg yolks out of my omelets, or skimp on the fat. I'm not trying to cut weight though. When I say peanut butter, and olive oil, and nuts, I mean a LOT of it. I make my food swim in it as a matter of fact. Also, I should mention, folks shouldn't shy away from real butter either.

I also wanted to mention something that I think shouldn't be overlooked when coming up with an over all good life long diet in general. And that is herbs, and spices. I believe you should try to incorporate a wide variety of spices in the diet. Many are known to be very beneficial in many ways. I'm also sure there are plenty of benefits in eating certain spices that we are unaware of as well. Just to name a few you might want to incorporate into your diet. Cinnamon, cumin, paprika, curry, turmeric, cloves, anise, ginger, fennel, nutmeg, oregano, garlic, peper, etc... the list go's on, and on.

Not to mention they're really tasty.... I have trouble adding spices to everything, but I always make sure I have a good dry rub handy with plenty of different spices in it for steak and stuff.

Any tips on how you spice your food?

How I spice my food? Well, I'll just say I can be pretty eccentric when it comes to what herbs, and spices I use on my food sometimes.
I think that is best left to your own experimentation my friend.:yep
