Just how i remember it. Pavlik thought Hopkins was past it and thought he could get a big name on his record.

Tarver dragged Hopkins up 2 divisions after Hopkinshad been beat twice by jermaine taylor.

Glen Johnson had lost loads of times and roy was trying to pick up a belt from so called easy pickings.

I remember these things at the time. Looking back now they probably don't look like cherry picks. At the time they were

I agree on both counts, but still wonder why Martinez so despised Cotto, who never said a bad thing about him.

What did he say about Cotto? I just never understand why Martinez despised him so much. I liked Martinez and even took a picture with him at the infamous Williams vs Cintron “fight.” However, I did enjoy seeing Cotto serve him some humble pie.

Hate to say it given the aftermath, but McClellan vs Benn may be the ultimate example of this.

Benn was looked at as a great styles matchup for G-Man and, having been stopped before, wasn't expected to last. He was the stepping stone to bigger fights, which is why G-Man was a 3-1 favorite despite being the fight being in Benn's back yard. That King sent him to London in the first place tells you the confidence they had going in to it.

Max Baer "cherry picking" Braddock is one of the most famous examples.

Famous Tommy Morrison fight... was it against "Bent?"

Victor Ortiz had a looming payday as long as he beat or drew with Josesito.

Yep! Leonard having seen an ancient Roberto Duran get robbed vs Camacho, thought Camacho was going to be easy pickings for himself.
Turned out Camacho conned Leonard because unlike his fight with Duran, Camacho really got himself physically and mentally ready for Leonard. So ready was Camacho he predicted he would knockout Leonard with ease.

No Golota asked for the Grant fight which looked like a pretty good idea for most of the fight until it came down to the test of intestinal fortitude and Golota blew it.
