How extreme do the examples have to be?

Shane was rightly showered with acclaim for that win though, not the same thing.

People dismiss that win BUT Margo wasn't nearly as heavy a favorite as ODLH.

The opening post describes the criteria. If you think of one which fits the criteria which was laid out, then by all means post away dude.

A better question is, when was the last time a fighter had to come down to fight at a weight he hadn't made in a decade, only to come into the fight weighing less than the fighter moving up, AND then needing to inject a gallon of IV to be resucitated.....???

That would be interesting to know if that's happened before....:think

Lacy was a favourite with the US media, but he wasn't with the UK media. Lacy had struggled with Omar Sheika, Joe had blew him away. Anyone who had actually seen Lacy fight beforehand knew of his limitations, and how he used power to compensate for them. Calzaghe was more experienced, more seasoned, more proven, and the fight was in his backyard. As I said, it's not a bad call for this thread mate, but I don't believe 18 out of 20 experts would have been picking Lacy, nor do I believe that win was anywhere near as devalued afterwards as Pac-DLH has been. I bet 18 out of 20 people at least would put Calzaghe-Lacy in the top 50 wins of the decade, I bet 18 out of 20 people would not put Pac-DLH in there.

I'll ask again, do you have an answer to the thread-question at all?

The people that don't view this win as a legitimate major and impressive win are the idiotic haters.

It is a fair shout, but I'll re-post my thoughts on it:

You knew he's coming down in weight yet you still picked him to KO Pac in 3 rounds at most. Fool.

That has nothing to do with the question, we all know Oscar wasn't peak when he got his ass kicked, he is basicly asking has anyone else who was a huge underdog ever won and later got very little credit for the win.

Sorry Popkins, I know you didn't want the thread to turn in to this, but....

DLH didn't lose that fight because he was de-hydrated. DLH lost that fight because he was up against a better man, a man who on the night was superior in every department. Even Nacho Beristain who trained DLH, and knew his condition better than any of us, conceded that Pacquaio won the fight because he was just simply exceptional on the night.

Why do you think that Ali's win over Liston and Douglas's win over Tyson were written off as meaningless? I couldn't disagree more, I think that just about everyone rates them as two of the best wins in heavyweight history.

Douglas and Ali get credit for those wins.
