YES really .DLH was down on weight 2 weeks before the fight. He got his ass kick by listing to dietitians and then started making excuses like all boxers. If he was dehydrated he would have regained 10 to 15 pounds .

to be honest its unfair to completly write the win off but i dont see it as being in pac top 6-7 wins

purely for the fact that it wasent oscar he fought anyone can see that good win great performace but still easy to see why people write it off

but looking at calzaghe- lacy again calzaghes win that night was brutal and somewhat uexpected yet gets little to no credit for that win , not 90% like this one but id say 70-30

and using 20 so called experts as a measuring stick for the preception of said fight is not brilliant i mean how often do they get it very very wrong

I asked a question. You, being a standard General Forum fanboy zombie, were straight on there posting loads of irrelevant childish **** that had nothing to do with the question. Now you are turning the thread into yet another of your pathetic tit-for-tat bitchfests with rival fans. It's boring as **** and only reinforces your reputation as a worthless troll extraordinaire.

Maybe you have somekind of selective reading problem.

What part of Oscar having needles in his forearm before walking out do you not comprehend...

Again, do you think he had those needles, because he was a little thirsty..?

Those IV marks don't lie....Saying your on weight is easier to lie about, than having holes in your forearms.

Yeah, Liston vs Ali is the only one that comes to mind.

This is a highly subjective question. Whether or not a win is written off as meaningless is often times a matter of perception and not neccesarily reality. Anyway, Hopkins over Pavlik, Hopkins over Trinidad, Mosley over Margartio, are 3 examples of big underdogs winning and having their win downplayed as time went on.

I think the Calzaghe Lacy example is a decent one.

I suppose part of the reason that ODLH is no longer seen as an amazing win for Pac is we now know what he is capable of and the mistakes Oscar made in that fight. It is hardly a signiture win for Pac, just one of many amazing results he has pulled off.

The best example I can think of, is Ali/Liston II.

Before the fight, many old-time pundits still picked Liston because of their preference in style and reluctance to accept a mover like Ali as the heavyweight champion. I have an old edition of The Ring and many experts were picking Liston, using his injuries and dominance over smaller men as reasoning. Not exactly a huge favourite, but it's the best I can think of.

Ali obviously dominated him, knocking him out, yet because of the circumstances of the punch, very few people gve him credit for the win. Rightly so? Who knows.

    Hatton/Tszyu, Young/Pryor, Raheem/Morales etc., are lesser examples.

None of the three have been written off to anywhere near the same extent though.

Some good examples starting to be posted now. Ali-Liston II for the reasons stated by Jack is on the same level as Pac-DLH in terms of being written off, but I'm dubious as to whether Liston was favourite to win the fight, never mind a hot favourite.

Raheem-Morales is a damn good call.
