That's all a matter of perception. How do you measure the level at which a win has been written off? There are people out there that claim the Hoya win is an overrated win for Pac, that he gets more credit than he deserves for the win. However, the same can be said for the 3 examples I gave in regards to people downplaying the win. Look at the leadup to tonight's fight, everyone has been saying that Margo was tailor made for Mosley and that the win has been overvalued.

If you think any of those three have been devalued anywhere near as much as Pac-DLH has, then good for you. You are very, very wrong of course, but I don't have much interest in explaining why for you.

TRUE, and that's because they don't have good enough reason to do so like in the Pac-DLH fight.

What fight has a fighter came down one division after 10 years to fight a guy moving up two, and weighing LESS than the guy moving up two on fight night???!!!!! And that fighter needing IV to stay on his feet.

Unique situation, so that is why he doesn't get credit. But if the same DLH who came in against Mayweather came to fight, then yes he would have gotten credit, but we all know it wasn't.

Baldo got credit for whippin Judah's ass. Now the idea that Judah was a good WW has been written off mainly do to further losses to PBF, Cotto, and Clottey.

I'd say about 70/30 were in favour of Liston, honestly. He was their generations Tyson and Ali was the first heavyweight who moved like a lightweight. He wasn't considered to be anything more than a flash in the pan.

I would definetly say a lot of people considered Liston the favourite but my sources are The Ring, who called Ali "Clay" for years after the name change, and biased pro-Ali documentaries

What do you think of Pryor/Young, mate?

I also remember Gatti being favoured over Gomez, because it was Gatti and a guy off a TV show. Of course, everyone passes it off as Gatti being shot now. Rightly so, though.

Dempsey/Willard? Not so much now but around the time there were heavy doubts over whether he had plaster or was carrying an object in his hand. I think there are some who still heavily doubt it though but most don't know about the doubts these days for it to be doubted widespread. Plus there are those who just realize how bad Willard was in hindsight.

i picked pacquio to win this. at the end of the day it was obvious oscar would have alot of trouble making weight. one thing you don't want to do is make yourself weak against someone with the workrate of manny pacquiao. i'm better than these ring experts.

Wow, the Liston fight- sure, but who devalues the Foreman win?

If Pavlik loses another fight while he's being regarded as the favourite, then the Hopkins win over him will be downplayed a lot and rightfully so. Can't come up with another good example at the moment.

Some people say Foreman suffered in the heat or even drugged but that's all nonsense, of course. A very small minority too.

    Ali/Spinks? Ali/Berbick even?

This tends to happen when great, old fighters meet a younger guy. After the fight, there is a consensus of "He really was old".

Great point. I can't think of that happening in any sport off hand.
