Precisely why this win is nothing to get hyped about.
He outmanoeuvred an older, smaller opponent he had every conceivable advantage against.
An opponent who had no physical tools to damage him seriously.

    To use a football/soccer analogy.
This would be like watching a defensive italian team grind out a 1-0 win against a weaker team.
He won!! good luck to him. But the win was inevitable .

it is hard to give credit to a guy who had all these welterweights to fight and picks a junior lightweight to fight, who just won his lightweight title from a mediocre champ. How much credit is he supposed to get?

Speak for yourself, might just be the London view of things and we all know they differ greatly to the North of England nevermind Scotland ;)

When Floyd steps up to the plate against natural welterweights and wins then lets give him credit, he deserves none for beating smaller guys like Marquez and even Hatton

Respect for mayweather, so what he's a litte bigger. Look at the history of boxing and you'll see smaller guys have beaten bigger guys by a much larger margin

Floyd was a 5-1 favorite going into the fight .Why are his fans taking offense to the truth ?? Sure he looked brilliant,I don't know any boxer that could shut out the likes of Marquez but Floyd really needs a real welter in there so he can show that no matter the size he can still dominate .Fighting smaller guys does not compliment his legacy .

And for those who think Manny will be a beast at welter or is one the same thing is going to happen to him against Cotto .

Ah man you wouldnt have said it better.A lot of these guys are high on lorazepam, hatorade and constipated as well.Floyd was not given even 5 minutes to celebrate.Just after announcing the decision these witches were already pouring water on such a boxing clinic.Shane Mosley is such a jealous fellow, now I understand why the wife did a runner the guy is classless.

I would disagree with you about Hatton. Keep in mind that there was a time after Hatton beat Tzyu where people said that he was the bigger fighter as FLoyd as the one moving up in weight. There was a time when Floyd vs Hatton was the only fight that anyone wanted to see. It happened later than it should have but you can't blame floyd for that, I see that fight as better late than never.

Last nights fight was really pointless. nobody asked for it and until the promoters shined the turd up real nice and shoved it down everyone's throat, we all knew it was garbage.
