The haters would love for Vitali to become permanently injured. They are angry because they Keep beating all their heroes.

Remember when they predicted that Austin would easily knock Vlad out? And Peter was the best? Ad infinitum, so saith the Pope.

It's idiotic statements like this that give some Klitschko fans a bad name. :deal

But in the end thats what some here say. Because he quit after having a serious injury that could have crippled him for lifetime the call Vitali a "quitter", meaning he should have fought on and risking that...

I remember when the boxing writer "Marty Mulcahey" wrote a great article about former great fighters who quit. It was on the old "Boxing Wise" Boxing Site, huge site, no longer exists but what a great article. I will try to find it. Peter quit. Roger Mayweather quit in his second fight with Chavez. Liston and many others. Vitali will keep knocking them out. Fantastic knockout %, by the way.

    Anyone remember "Boxing Wise"?

By the way, Vitali's left is very important to him.

I can't remember someone saying "I hope Vitali get a serious, permanent injury". That's just wrong on so many levels.

Some Klitschko fans also wanted him to continue against Lewis - who knows what would have happened to Vitali's eye had Lewis been allowed to continue dropping right hands on it. :deal

I don't think he should have fought on against Byrd and a torn rotator cuff is a painful injury. However, I think some people just use it as a way of giving Klitschko fans ****. They don't actually want the guy to have a serious injury. :good

There's a difference between quitting when you're getting the crap beaten out of you and quitting when you're winning by a wide margin on all the scorecards heading into the championship rounds when your opponent can't crack an egg with a power punch.

In his fight with Byrd, Vitali showed that he has absolutely no heart. Even the great Larry Merchant said so.

Juan Carlso Gomez is a very good fighter- a former crusierweight champion with heavyweight wins over SSS, Oliver Mcall, and Wladimir Virchis.

Tonight, Vitaly Klitscko knocked him down twice and won almost every round against him.

Even if he is slowed down, Vitaly can still fight and add to his legacy for many more years if he so desires.

Why do all the Klitschko fans automatically assume that had Klitschko fought on against Byrd, he would've been crippled for life? It's a torn rotator cuff; granted it's a devastating injury, but it definitely could be worse. Athletes deal with the injury all the time. I don't see them being permanently injured.

Vitali made a very wise decision. He knew what was best for him. His surgeon agreed. Huge cast on him. I remember it.like it was yesterday. Never want to sever a nerve anytime.

Whatever, while the haters grasp for straws, Klitschkos keep on cleaning out the heavyweight division.

Vitali may or may not have made a wise decision. What if he decided to grow a set of balls and actually last another 9 minutes against the feather-fisted Byrd and cruised to a decision while making a full recovery afterwards? Then he would've actually made an impression on his HBO debut. Instead, the only impression he made was that when the going gets tough, he quits.

Just a note hear, friend: how did he know that it was a torn rotator cuff? The man feared permanent injury, and rightfully retired to fight another day.

Don´t you think he proved that he is no quitter in the Lewis fight? He didn´t quit but the ring Dr. did.

Then that's his decision to make. But there are other instances of fighters continuing with similar injuries under much harder circumstances. Vitali's scenario was quite possibly the easiest scenario someone could've had with such an injury.

There was only 3 rounds left, he was shutting out Byrd on the scorecards, and Byrd couldn't kill a fly with a power punch.

A true warrior like Diego Corrales or Arturo Gatti would've continued with no complaints.

Well, I still say that its not so easy to make that decison when you are the one who might be abdicating the million sof dollars and a future shot at the richest prize in sports if you allow yourself to get a messy injury.

Besides, some guys never are the same after these injuries. Look at Left Hook Lacey.
