Who was the more effective, impressive and all-round better fighter at their peak and at their own prime weight class...

1.CHRIS EUBANK (mw) or DIEGO CORRALES (sfw/lw)

2.JOE CALZAGHE (smw) or ERIK MORALES (sbw/fw)

3.AARON PRYOR (lww) or OSCAR DE LA HOYA (lww/ww)

4.KOSTYA TSZYU (lww) or WINKY WRIGHT (lmw)

Please give your selection and explain why... :bbb

This isn't H2H because I just cannot predict who would win if they were at the same weight. They'd effectively be different fighters as a result, so I'll just say who is better in a P4P sense. Perhaps that is what you were asking, anyhow.

1.CHRIS EUBANK (mw) or DIEGO CORRALES (sfw/lw)

I think Eubank was a lot more consistent, and was never outclassed to the extent Corrales was when he fought peak Mayweather Jr. Diego fought the better opposition, but lost to all of the best fighters he ever fought: Casamayor, Castillo, and Mayweather Jr.

2.JOE CALZAGHE (smw) or ERIK MORALES (sbw/fw)

I have to give Morales the benefit of the doubt because he has ATG wins over Barrera at SBW and Manny at 130. Solid wins over Hernandez, Injin Chin, Junior jones. He was still successful depsite moving up in weight, and holds better wins over prime opposition than Calzaghe, who I feel made some bad career decisions.

3.AARON PRYOR (lww) or OSCAR DE LA HOYA (lww/ww)

Aaron Pryor had all of the talent and potential to establush himself a real ATG. I feel his best wins came against Past prime opposition, and his career was premature due to drug addiction. He could have been greater, but he didn't have that long enough of a reign. Oscar, he may have lost most of his big fights, but he still holds credible wins over Quartey, Whitaker, Mayorga, and Vargas.

4.KOSTYA TSZYU (lww) or WINKY WRIGHT (lmw)

Winky's best wins came over smaller opposition.

I'd say Chris Eubank is light-years ahead of Diego Corrales, all the others are close though IMO.

1.CHRIS EUBANK (mw) or DIEGO CORRALES (sfw/lw)
Eubank is abit more consistant and had a decent title run. both were involved in great fights

2.JOE CALZAGHE (smw) or ERIK MORALES (sbw/fw)
one of the best in the 90s. morales outclassed and beat heaps of quality opponents

3.AARON PRYOR (lww) or OSCAR DE LA HOYA (lww/ww)
    more established multi weight champ

4.KOSTYA TSZYU (lww) or WINKY WRIGHT (lmw)
one of teh ost underrated of the 90s

Eubank - Better H2H fighter and better resume.

Morales - At first I thought Calzaghe but when you think how Joe struggled against a 43 year old BHop and Morales beating Pac at 130, I have to lean towards Morales.

Pryor - DLH the more accomplished fighter but at lww, I think Pryor would have been too much for DLH. Pryor would go all out for 12-15 rounds, dont think DLH could keep up with that pace.

Kostya - If they were the same size id pick Kostya to outbox Winky and p4p, id imagine that right hand to break through that guard, Heck Taylor nearly did.

I meant what I said. Who was better h2h at their own weights, ie head-to-head against other guys in their own division, who was the better fighter ability-wise. I would never ask anyone to imagine who would win if they were the same size, that is beyond moronic.

eubank - corrales in a 'mythical' fight would be tremendous - good post.
don't know if i want to pick that one.

calzaghe -morales i also think would be a ******* but i have to go with morales on that one.

    pryor beats oscar for me....

    and wright beats tszyu.

Guys I really don't know why I've given people the impression I want you to say who would win between the two, just read the first sentence. It's about how was better h2h at their own weight class, ie was Corrales a better sfw/lw than Eubank was a mw? Could Corrales defeat a better standard of sfw/lw and be ranked higher OAT at his weight than Eubank could at his? That was my intention. I thought it was clear but I guess it wasn't, apologies.

Eubank-Corrales is a toss up for me, Corrales being involved in one of the most dramatic fights I have ever seen and winning it, might make me lean more towards him.

Morales in my opinion is quite a bit ahead of Calzaghe, with many great performances over very good prime fighters, a couple of them being sure all time greats.

Pryor was a complete beast, but gotta go with Oscar on this one.... Fought one of the toughest strings of opponents ever and most of his losses are controversial. As well as his great wins of course.

Gotta go with Tszyu, but I like him a lot more than I do Winky so I might be bias a bit. Winky has beat the bigger names though.

    My answer stands the same.

Anyways, your method of comparing these fighters really isnt any less moronic than straight up h2h if they were the same weight comparisons. Just like opponents and resume is all relative, so is power and speed therefore even when comparing h2h of who would beat who if same natural size, you just gotta take everything in relative terms. No doubt p4p Eubank was the faster man, with the tougher chin and Corrales more power.
