These two gelled beautifully, very evenly matched fighters.. seeing if it's as good as I remember it being.. Froch was in numerous SMW classics & this was one of them.. How did u have it?
First 3: 1 fairly even round 2 MK 3 MK Interesting that Kessler has so far had Froch on the back foot… Not many fighters were able to do that with him
4 heating up, close round that.. I'd go even again actually, Froch standing his ground a bit more Froch hasn't won a round yet, though its competitive
5 Froch backing up , trapped in a corner , Kessler down.. looks like Froch wobbled him, but on closer look he stumbled, lost his form , Froch attacked & Kessler lost his balance going backwards.. no KD imo.. Kessler straight back on him, again Kessler round.. surprising this, from memory I thought Froch had done better than this.. Froch just not doing enough.. showing him too much respect.. finished the round well tho, still struggling to give him that one, call it even.. good round tho
6 again struggling to separate them in that one, i'd just edge it to Kessler though as he slightly out worked him and had him on the back foot again, good round .. 7 fairly dominant Kessler round, Froch was outgunned in that one.. Did anyone give Froch a round by this point? I'm willing him to win one here lol so you can't say my scoring is biased.. Kessler is working him in this fight
8 Froch looking demoralised now, he buckles from a big right, he's getting battered.. I remember this being a nip & tuck war, it's not, Carl's losing handily here, he's in it but he can't do anything with him.. Froch uncoordinated, winging in shots no snap on his punches.. looks poor here.. Kessler is fairly basic style wise yet Froch can't figure him out lol.. I think Froch finally met his physical match here & couldn't cope.. I love Froch but he hasn't won a round yet ..
9 Kessler still sharp, tight defence, Froch still sloppy.. carl still hasn't figured out what to do lol.. finishes the round well but again he still didn't do enough to take it
& the **** hasn't uploaded part four so I can't watch the last three rounds LOL… Anyway, judging how it was going I suspect carl barely won one of them .. that was a near shutout .. you live & learn .. Kessler schooled him with basics.
I remember it as a very clear win for Kessler. And this was Kessler coming off a bad defeat to Ward. The Kessler Froch defeated 3 years later was almost a shell.
People forget that I think froch flew over from the uk to Denmark on the day of the fight because of a big ash cloud in Iceland which could have hindered his performance. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_eruptions_of_Eyjafjallajökull Kessler vacated the title after winning this but I can remember why? Was he injured? froch would go on to beat Abraham for it instead
Without watching it again mate, I had Kessler clear in a very competitive fight. Well matched fighters but the classier work come from MK
From memory I had Kessler winning a close but clear fight by a round or 2. Froch simply didn't do enough, he was always in the fight but it always felt like Kessler was dictating the pace of the fight. Going into the fight I didn't rate Froch at all, thought Kessler was going to knock him out and was rooting for Kessler. But this fight convinced me Froch was better than I had originally thought and belonged among the best in the division. My overriding feeling after the fight was Froch under performed, it just seemed he was unable to press his advantage at crucial times in the fight. It's like he hit a wall, would get on top in a round but then inexplicably give the round away by doing next to nothing and letting Kessler regain the momentum. Wasn't until some time afterwards that I learned about his travel issues due to the ash cloud which kind of explained why he didn't seem to hit a physical wall at times and was never really able to build any momentum. We all know how fatiguing travel can be, it clearly effected his performance.
True but personally I find even flying from the UK to Amsterdam which is about an hour or an hour and a half I think, physically draining, something about the whole experience of flying for me and many other people I know is mentally exhausting. Packing, getting to the airport, worrying about not forgetting anything, checking in, getting through customs etc. The flight itself is actually the most relaxing part, it's everything else involved in travelling that I find taxing.
