Come on mate, the old ash cloud jobby is one of the worst excuses ever.. you can literally find something that didn't go right in the lead up to nearly every fight in history. I don't think any fighter can ever say they went into a fight 100% with zero hiccups beforehand. In fact it's well documented that Kessler was having eyesight problems at the time of this fight. So much so that he pretty much semi retired after this one. Life is never perfect. Yes some preparations are genuinely bad & some excuses are valid but a volcano is terrible
He didn't, I watched that again a few months ago (did a thread on it) and I was surprised how easily Joe won it. Wasn't close..
The fight was mainly a chess match in the first 6 but he got wobbled by straight rights and badly rocked by an uppercut.and pushed back several times, later on he upped his inside workrate and overwhelmed Kessler hurting him to the body and the trademark Calaghe workrate just overwhelmed the Dane, he absolutely had to change strategy Link to your thread?
"Calzaghe is very very special, the adjustments he's making, Kessler doesn't know what to do" Manny Stewart (Who picked Joe C to lose to Lacy and Kessler) he and the HBO team gave a standing ovation the end of the fight
I can't find it, it must have been deleted for some reason… I know I definitely did a round by round a few months ago on it on here (did a Hopkins one too) i had it wide for Joe. Again, a fight I see differently through older eyes. If you want & u get time then have a watch & let me know your score. Can't be bothered watching it again right now but I'll ave another look when I get an hour spare. Was 9/3 ish imo.. Kesslers performance in the 1st six was overplayed a bit, that's what I took away, & Joe walked the second half with Kessler having one really good round in it. You might disagree but I personally was surprised at how decisive it actually was on second viewing.
This is something done to us by the elites. They don't want us to travel like they do so they make it terrible unless you own your own damn plane.
calzaghe was impressive against kessler, but you're not "very, very special" if kessler is the best fighter in his prime that you fight in your entire career, because that raises more questions than it answers.
H was refering to how Calzaghe changed his style hafway throught the fight, not just because he beat Kessler
i remember that uppercut that kessler landed you referred to being the result of joe showboating. had nothing to do with 'styles'. calzaghe was simply a much better boxer, i thought he controlled it throughout.
It did becauss he got caught several times hard when going toe to toe , one straight right shook him to his bootsand he leaned forward into an uppercut which hurt him, after that he started to pick poke and prod at Kessler and Kesller couldn't really touch him thanks to Joes change of tactics As Kessler said post fight "Mikkel, you were throwing some big shots at him midway and at the end of the fight" Kessler smiles "Yeah...but I missed!" Kessler a classy guy
