Some of the greatest fighters of all time had big, glaring flaws in their game, that caused some of their fights to be tougher than they should have been. Who are some fighters, and what were their flaws?

Lewis had trouble following a specific game plan, and often fought to an opponents advantage.

Almost lost the Mercer and Holyfield II fights.

Regarding Ali, one thing that always amazed me is how he neglected the body punches throughout his career. I just do not recall a single punch to the body he has struck throughout his career.

If you want to see a totally non Ali, Ali fight watch his bout with Blue Lewis. Body punches, working inside. A unique performance from him.

    Just watched Dundee vs Yarosz

Was Vince Dundee with the Mob or something or was the yarosz defeat a off night?

    Was he great?

Probably the least impressive middleweight champ ive seen

    Leonard.

People have the impression of this lightning quick athlete pot shottin from the back foot.

The reality is he loved a tear up, a bit like Holmes. When someone came to mix it they just couldn't say no.

I agree...Leonard wanted to finish you...and his namesake did too.

Billy Conn's and Joey Giardello's lack of punching power,...but they were self taught master boxers, so I don't perceive either one as "flawed" really. If Conn in particular had been blessed with some real pop, he'd have been unbeatable.

There was no GLARING flaw in Ray Leonard. That's just an idiotic statement. The fact that he loved to "fight" is actually a strength. Better than fighting as a safety-first puta like Floyd.

"Glaring" means a MAJOR flaw. There was NO major flaw in a prime Leonard.

Best example here is Terry Norris. Chin was a GLARING flaw in an otherwise great fighter.

I'd say killer instinct in Mayweather post 140.

"caused some of their fights to be tougher than they should have been"

Leonard had the skills to avoid more shots than we saw him take in his biggest fights. It made for better TV, sure. But it certainly also made some fights tougher than they needed to have been.

Are you talking about fighting flaws or born flaws?

If it's flaws you're born with I would say Hearns and his chin. If he had a chin like Hagler, he would have been a complete package. Lewis was along the same lines but was probably less chinny than Hearns was.
