Roy Jones vs Anderson Silva. Who wins this epic match-up?

    Silva has both.

Look at that glancing blow that knocked down Silva and then he almost got pounded out on the ground in the first round. Silva would have a 1,522 ranking as a pro boxer, absolutely no chin.

Yeah pretty laughable. Never rated Silva, most of his wins came against bums too goddamn afraid to even fight him.

All boxers unless previously Muay Thai fighters have glass legs. It's irrefutable. :deal

Oh, and the late 17th century would be the Qing Dynasty.

PURE GLASS. The guys reflexes and speed was several cuts below anyone who Roy Jones fought in his prime. Even the so called "cab drivers" he KO'd. Silva just looks good because everyone in that sport is an unathletic bum.

just because they can beat a boxer in a fight doesn't mean its a harder sport...

MMA is more up to chance than boxing, so really athletic strikers won't be rewarded as much. This is why the talent pool is so bad. So when you finally get someone who is decently athletic like silva, the chance of other attributes being bad is pretty high. (maybe you know like CHIN LOLL!!!)

I loved how MMA fans who didn't now anything about boxing were comparing this guy to Ali, Floyd, RJJ. He didn't have reflexes anywhere NEAR those guys. Hes dodging punches from guys that are slower with 6 oz gloves on then prob nicolai valuev with 16 oz's on LOL. MMA fans actually don't know anything about MMA, I actually was reading most of its fans came from NASCAR. Basically it's a bunch of people who are just wanting to see someone get ****ed up. They have no concern for skill, or ability to analyze it. I have talked to people who call themselves MMA fans who "follow the sport" and "know a lot about it" yet none of them can even tell me how a fight is scored. LOL!

Solid post. This describes it pretty well. People ripped on Roy's chin. God Silva's chin is Broner quality. Terrible.

I've been saying for years that Anderson had a glass jaw.... Not just the Weidman fights, look at the kind of the punches that hurt him in Sonnen I. Silva ALWAYS had a fragile mandible, it just started to show later in his career when he started to face better competition and slowed down a bit.

Harder in what sense, Boxing carries a significantly higher risk to long term health and has many more fatalities so the risk factor is less in MMA. MMA fighters can quit in a fight and it's viewed as ok but if a boxer does it he is branded a coward. Plus it's harder to reach the top as a boxer. So in what way is it harder?

Everyone is saying how poor Anderson was, but what about how good Chris was. That checked kick wasnt a fluke. He worked on that. It was an offensive move, meant to cause an advantage. Unfortunately for Saliva, his leg was rubber. But Weidman intended to hurt him with that knee on shin. Used his aggressiveness and predictability against him, much like a Combat Ju-jitsu man would do. Weidman will always beat any version of Silva. Quite possibly one of the worst matchups possible for Anderson.

Yeah, I can see why most UFC fans were impressed by that. I mean blocking and using technique/having the reflexes to do it, is pretty foreign in that sport so I give Chris big props.
