Ward laboured to victory against Tocker Pudwill's scaffolder brother, whereas Supermiddle GOAT Calzaghe thrashed the much superior Tocker with consummate ease. Imagine what Kovalev will do to Ward. Glass Jaw Ward couldn't KO a shot 39-year-old Uzbeki ticket inspector. This will be Ward v Boone II, minus the corrupt ref to save him. It's irrefutable.
I concur, Ward did well against a blinded shot to pieces Kessler, his headbuts were frequent, crisp and hit the target everytime, and he did well against the robotic Froch who moved like he was on quickstand, but as we saw against Bika he was in a world of hurt, his level is retired shoe sales men and lock smiths, they should look into contracts with Footlocker employees and sign them up to Oakland, that's pretty much how his career has panned out.
The one quality I like in Ward is his ability to stay humble, that he can smile and compare himself to Mayweather,Jones and Hopkins after going 12 rounds with a 40 yr old bum who can't even afford to look after his family speaks volumes? Say what you will about Mayweather but at least his opponents got a payday for looking poor.
Ward's questionable whiskers are a serious liability going into this fight. While Kovalev isn't exactly George Chuvalo himself, I doubt Ward can take advantage of that. Having a suspect chin and facing Kovalev, however, is another matter.
