Left Hook to Right Temple... and Joshua was Dancing the Jig! he was headed for the canvas before the other punches landed by the Blob! Glass Jaws Exist! It's Irrefutable!!
If Ruiz hadn't Inhaled dozens of whole Fried ButterBall Turkeys, pure fat loaded stuffing, whole pies, etc for Thanksgiving leading up to the journey over to Diarrhoea, Saudi Arabia of which he only took Snickers Bars and Deep Fried Twinkies to eat ... maybe he could have let his hands go and knock out that Glass Jawed Hype Job Again but instead came in almost as Fat as Butterbean's Toughman Contest weight but perhaps he was guaranteed by Hearn to get Joshua again in a 3rd fight if Joshua can survive Pulev and Usyk... Meanwhile Ruiz can be a Couch Potato for six months gobbling down buckets of Ice Cream in his mansion while Joshua is training and fighting those 2 mandatory challengers that he would have had to fight if he'd beaten Joshua again... I think Ruiz main motivation was financial security and tons of food of which he has plenty of now... It's lots more fun laying on the couch inhaling Deep Fried Twinkies dipped in buckets of Ice Cream while watching 700 channels of Cable TV than training in the gym and fighting Usyk and Pulev over a six month period! Late next year he can get another big payday fighting Joshua again!
If Usyk or Pulev land a left hook on Joshua and pull an upset will Ruiz choke on whatever he's gobbling while watching the fight? Then kicking himself for not training for the rematch?
Pure glass as I understand it is a boxer who crumples when hit with a good shot and can't recover. Whilst Joshua's jaw is in no way iron, I think it's not wholly glass either. He's never been counted out or failed to make the count. He got up against Wlad who is an ATG heavyweight puncher... So not glass, nor iron, but somewhere in between.
Except that AJ never had his jaw cracked in the Ruiz fight....he quit after taking too many shots to the body and just getting roughed up in general. Isn't there a bit of a difference?
Well, 90% of cases when people are screaming 'glass jaw' is just a severe oversimplification of what happens in the ring.
Before this thread, I did not know wether a weak chin refers literally to the chin as I am no native English speaker. It seems now there is a majority consensus that weak chin refers to ability to take punches. In that case, it is difficult to judge, because it may depend on where the punch lands. Joshua for instance got up after getting hit by Klitschko's full power 1-2 combo. Took him a round to recover and then finish the fight. Against Ruiz he was hit on the side of the head a couple of times and got up 4 times during the fight. He's been wobbled in his fight against Whyte too, but recovered in the same round. If you watch both fights between Wilder and Ortiz, you will see that Wilder gets hit quite some times on the chin, but seems to survive it all. While he got clipped by a right hook and 1-2 combo in rounds 7 of the first fight and seemed to be gone.
Good shout Ugonoh was once a really hot prospect. He was rocked alot in this fight. Perhaps he has become somewhat of a professional sparring partner without realising it? This content is protected
