Difference between MMA glove and a boxing glove is about 3-4% in power no glove and glove is a lot more around 15-20% power up without gloves. Does Hunt have a glass jaw cuz he took a LHK by a prime CC and not get KOd then get KOd later in his career?
Aren't Overeem, Rampage, and Guy massive punchers? Didn't they repeatedly hit him with serious blows for most of their respective matches? Yes, and what happened there? Chuck's chin never gave out and he never went unconscious. He was never seriously staggered and in danger of being KOed in either of those matches and so he leveled Overeem and lasted against Rampage until his corner had seen enough and threw in the towel. And as for Mezger, that was a massive ****ing shot that literally sounded like a cannon had gone off in the arena and yet Chuck wasn't even stunned long enough for Mezger to follow up. Those are not the sort of performances that indicate any sort of mandibular weakness though they do indicate that his defense was nonexistant and that his punch resistance is the main reason for his success. I don't count them against his career legacy because he was a great fighter and is a legend but they do represent a completely shot china chin and shot chins, regardless of why they're gone, are still porcelain.
Hunt might now possess a glass jaw seeing as how he was levelled by a MW but he's my #1 ATG of Iron-Chinned Warriors.
Chuck got hit by big punches (what they only count if they are weak punches?) and was staggered or dropped, that does count against his chin, massive shots or not, his chin is not top notch, it just isnt. this is a strange debate we are having here, your telling me chucks chin is made of iron, but overall you rate his punch resistance low (wtf??!!) and I say liddell had a very good chin but it wasnt great and only count his prime years before his chin started to soften. (2000- 2007) the rest chalk up to wear and tear from having the type of fighting style he employed and also I assume is due to his age (late 30's early 40's).
It's only strange if you have trouble following a simple debate. If one gets dropped by massive shots or an accumulation of solid blows in a fight, it doesn't really speak much against one's punch resistance because we've seen fighters with historically proven great chins like Marciano, Ali, Foreman, and Gavilan get dropped several times in their careers but it was always the product of a brilliant punch, a load of punishment, or both that caused it. Doesn't change the fact that these were legendary chins. Guys like LaMotta, Hagler, and Chuvalo are even bigger rarities because they were never dropped even when hit with bombs, something which is going to be an even rarer quality to find in MMA against the little gloves. The guys who have careers like this are elite iron-chinned warriors. And what don't you understand about me saying that he had one of the best jaws ever in his prime and one of the worst in his old days? That's a very simple concept to follow and you're communicating with me on it about as well as a ****ing Asperger's victim. In his prime, great jaw. Old man Chuck, wet tissue paper. Did wear and tear and age cause his chin to mush up like that? Yes, but it doesn't matter what causes a chin to go brittle, it's still a glass jaw when it happens. Not rocket science at all, kiddo.
I think Liddell had a great chin. While he might've went down, most people would've got KO'd. Didn't he get knocked down by Wanderlei in their fight?
Yeah, Wand knocked him down but he caught a big hook from Chuck at the same time so Chuck eased back up to his feet while Wand was standing stunned. That was an epic fight and the last time either one of them displayed any sort of chin.
What a bunch of delusional fanboys on here. The guy does research and posts a list that even Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles know is filled with the most fragile Glass Jaws in MMA and you still want to argue with the guy? :roflatsch Some of the worst Chins I have ever seen are in MMA. I mean guys getting knocked out by Jabs while leaning back etc. It is pitiful. These guys are MMA fighters because they can't take a punch. I know some of you think just because a guy has a few tattoos or bench presses 400 pounds you think he can fight but reality is very different. Look at Brock Lesnar the guy has one of the worst Chins in the sport. Keep making all the excuses you want but your hero has a Glass Jaw. They exist in MMA. :hi:
**** off back to the general forum you coat tail riding mutha Rico! You wouldn't know a 4oz glove if you ate one you cheerleader.
Do you need a broom while making these sweeping generalisations? Both sports have fighters with good chins and fighters who's punch resistance has fallen over time. I don't think there's an MMA fan I've ever met who said Lesnar had a good beard...
Exactly, these MMA fanboys and glass jaw deniers are every bit as bad as the clowns we have posing as boxing fans. No matter how many of their heroes get flattened, they still can't admit they have chin chins.
Because it's ignorant, it's incorrect and it's stubborn. We don't need nor want these **** chinchecking posts in the MMA forum. Nobody here appreciates your work, you're just annoying the **** out of us. Take it to the lounge or the General, is that really too much to ask?
Heaven forbid anyone points out your heroes have flaws, fanboy. You blind hero-worshippers make me sick. Glass jaws DO exist in boxing AND MMA!!!! And when it shatters, it isn't an accident, it isn't because somebody got "old" at 30 or whatever - it's because they have SHITTY punch resistance!!!!!!!!!atsch
