I think you can put James Kirkland on that list. But overall I would say thats pretty accurate. Although I think Cotto's chin was much better than I expected I didnt think he would go 6 rounds with Margorito.

 

Gamboa has been knocked down a few times. Has he ever been hurt? No. Have his opponents been able to deal with his speed and power? Not really.


If Dawson fights Cloud I have no doubt his chin will be seriously tested....or shown up to be weak. If he can survive Cloud we will know whether he has A) a better chin than we thought B) Good recuperative powers. If he takes some good shots before getting stopped A) Cloud's power is overrated B) Dawson's chin is better than we expected.

If he gets sparked first shot that lands?

Kirkland is a god choice. However, for most of these guys, clever matchmaking will see them survive a while yet.


And Cotto has a very good beard. Especially if eh took heavy-handed Margarito's punches for that long considering they may have been plastered (so he does it in a fight she's heavily favoured to win against an ageing Mosley who looked awful in his previous outing but not against a prime, undefeated champion who might just be his ticket to the superstardom he has craved for so long? and makes said young star look like an aardvark??? hmmm.)

Cotto has a good chin. He has proved this as WW. Otherwise Judah and Mosley probably could've seriously hurt him. Either that or he's got the best recuperative powers ever, he literally recovers before his legs show the effect. The man hasn't been seriously wobbled since Torres at 140. And, for a 10-stone fighter, Torres can bang.

 

Having Cotto there is stupid, he has NEVER lost by getting knockout, he ate alot of shots from Margarito and he got tkod because he was too tired.

 

Could turn out to be another Lacy but then again Dawson's no Joe Calzaghe. Cloud punches hard and Dawson has been rocked badly before, however, Cloud has never fought anyone of Chad's pedigree (Gonzalez was past it) and Cloud has been fairly inactive as of late. Even a bum to keep warm would be good for him, but he hasn't fought in a while.

Dawsn can at times 'chill out' and coast at stages, but he wouldn't be able to do that against Cloud. Personally, I think Chad can pull off the decision win, but don't be surprised if he doesn't make it through three rounds either.

To be fair, I don't think either Jennings or Berto (tentatively scheduled for June/July) have the firepower to stop Cotto.

Mosley later on in the year can, but Cotto isn't going to eat as many shots as Margarito.

 

As for Cotto I could see him not taking shots well after that beating. So I agree with your speculation of him being KO'ed this year. And I just picture James Kirkland being Ko'ed this year also he has been buzzed and hurt by opponents. And he is just more aggressive than talented.
