Valuev vs. McCline wasn't a no contest.

Abraham vs. Bozic wasn't a no contest.

    Et cetera.

It should be declared a No Contest, and probably will be once the tapes are examined carefully.

    IBF will review it.
They should schedule Martin vs next available guy. Obviously Glazkov is out for a long time.

    :huh

If you suffer a fluke injury while boxing, you lose by TKO. Loads of precedent, just a sliver of which I noted above.

No Contests are for very particular sets of circumstances (accidental fouls opening a cut leaving one party unable to continue before the agreed upon minimum # of rounds completed, or a double KO, or a non-flagrant but still fight-ending foul such as low blow or rabbit punch occurring late in a fight) - not for one guy being injured. Your body fails you in the ring, you lose by technical knockout. That's how it goes.

Exactly, another example is Sweet Pea's last fight, broken clavicle. The fight was still a tko

It wasn't caused by a punch, or ANY action by the opposing fighter - therefore it's not a legitimate KO. A fight like that, imo, should be declared a no contest. At the very least Glazkov should be given an immediate rematch.

I don't actually disagree but there's enormous precedent for that just being how things are done in the sport.

Call this a NC and you have to go back and alter LOTS OF records...

Glazkov quit. He went down. He got up, the referee asked him if he wanted to continue and he said no.

The doctor didn't stop it. The doctor didn't examine his knee and call the referee over. The referee didn't ask the doctor what he should do.

The fighter quit in the middle of the round.

    So it's a TKO.

If he'd finished the round, went back to his corner, and the doctor came up and examined it and stopped it, it's a no contest.

But Glazkov refused to finish the round. The referee asked him if he wanted to continue, and he said no.
