Hey, Im gonna be in NYC visiting some cousins and wanna get some good sparring coz Ive got the under 21 Nationals in a month or so, so I was thinking of going to Gleasons.. Is that a good idea?:blood Or will I be frowned upon for being an "Irish WhiteBWOY" or something like that?? Ive been boxing just going on nine years now and almost 8 competitively so experience is nothing to worry about. Just wanna know what the area is like coz ill be on my todd in a strange land?? And has anyone on here trained here before?? Know the price to train for a night?? its on Front Street, BK Thanks in advance, TFP:bbb
You wont have a problem there. Gleason's has everyone from white collar boxers to world champions training there. As for the neighborhood. It is kind of in an industrial area. Lots of warehouses and things like that, but not a dangerous part of Brooklyn. You go there, tell the staff what you said in your thread, and they will take care of you, and you will get some great work there.
Just watch out for the trainer/sharks who will put you in with their killer just to make themselves look good.
