This guy fought a who's who of boxing for 22 years.. some world class wins, some lower level losses but he always brought it.. the very definition of a road warrior.. so much respect for this guy.. he probably won't get in any time soon but does he deserve to? His resume is ridiculous.. take note privileged divas..
Normally he should be in there, seeing who else is in there and the number of controversial decisions that didn't go his way. Nowadays the threshold to get in is pretty high though. This years ballot should tell you enough about his chances being close to zero in this day and age.
I just finished watching his first fight with Clinton Woods (and he should have gotten the decision win but he got a draw instead just one of the manny times he was robbed) and will watch the second next but anyway Johnson was a good fighter better than his record shows but hes not a hall of famer but the IBHOF have lower standards than i do so who knows maybe he ends up in there.
I'm not going into the controversies here. There's a reason why some guys always come up short in close fights. If it becomes a pattern, then most of the time the blame should be put on themselves. And Johnson had a lot of losses, not all close or controversial, so it's not like he was an ATG who just got cheated out of his due, like some here on ESB want to make him out to be. But respect where respect is due. Not many fighters could have faced his resume and come out with no or few losses. At the end of the day, big wins over Tarver and Roy as well as wins over real guys like Allan Green, Thomas Ulrich, Clinton Woods, Eric Harding, Montell Griffin, plus being an IBF title-holder, should get him in, though barely.
He deserves to get in just for this alone. That shot literally had nothing on it at all but Roid went down like he'd been hit in the face by a cannonball This content is protected
I know Roy suffered from sporadic bouts of narcolepsy tho.. a symptom of PTSD, brought on by years of c ock fighting & failed impromptu rap battles
The best part of the clip is Larry Merchant "Will we ever see Roy Jones in a ring again?" Little did he know.
Roy went out on his shield that night! AGAIN! I mean did you not see the size of those pillows on Johnsons fists? That shot would have ended most careers.. Roy got up 4 minutes later & wanted to carry on.. he should have been allowed to continue..
I honestly think there are toddlers and old ladies out there that would've laughed that shot off. What a disgusting glass-jawed freak Roid was lol
I doubt it He won and defended IBF/IBO LHW straps but lost a large number of fights to world level and below world level fighters I havent watched everyone of his fights but remember what he was like as a boxer, and he isnt anywhere near to HOF. Chinning a post HW Roy Jones isnt HOF worthy. Roy Jones was ****ed when he came down from HW lets face it.
