Yeh, Cloud hurt him more than twice through the whole fight but near the end of round 5 he hurt Johnson badly. I briefly thought Cloud had a chance to get him out of there.

No it was a mercy stoppage. Johnson got beat up the whole fight and had no success at any moment in the fight and he had no shot at winning and Hopkins was hitting him more and more as the fight went on. Stopped a young fighter for taking big punches(Hopkins was a good puncher back then) for another round ad a half for no reason. Great stoppage.

I'm not sure Johnson got that memo when he fought Green :yep

They were of course ex-sparring partners and friends in the same way.

I wouldn't really be inclined to give him much credit simply because of Johnson's age and form. He's still really tough and fun to watch, but he's struggled against the world class opposition he's been in with recently, and I think the Cloud and Froch fights showed he also now has stamina problems. I'm not saying this to hate on Bute or anything like that either; I said similar things when people brought up the possibility of Pacquiao knocking out Mosley for the first time or when Alvarez knocked out Baldomir for the first time in eons. Johnson hasn't declined as dramatically as those two have, but it's pretty clear to me that he's not the same fighter he was even 3-4 years ago. An iron chinned warrior getting knocked out may say more about the form, age, and fitness of the loser than the quality of the victor.

Given bute's hype and johnson's age, id be disappointed if he can't at least knock him down

Johnson faded in the latter rounds against Froch. It would be the same against Bute. I can't see a late stoppage for Johnson.

    Hahaha! ''Pernellesque''! Love this one!

Me: ''Oh come on baby. Why so defensive?''
Wife (as she brings her legs close together): ''Not tonight honey, I'm tired...''
Me (upset): ''Oh you're so pernellesque''

Just trolling and a tad drunk - lol.

Apparently, he also loved Andrade dearly (no homo) yet knocked the living **** out of him. I guess the left hook to the jaw that sent Andrade to the canvas followed by the fatal uppercut to the body were terms of endearment. :D

If Bute gets the job done by ko i'd have much more respect for him than i have now. But in my opinion, he is the single biggest hype job on the world class level at this time.

Bute will try to knock him with an uppercut. A minute later, you feel nothing. No brain damage. :D
