Bute won't stop him, it will looks more like Dawson-Johnson II. More like 9 rounds to 3 for Bute. But if Lucian KO Johnson, i'll be impressed.

Johnson would be a good win for Bute. Bute just got done with a 4 fight stretch of beating Jean Paul Mendy, Brian Mcgee, Jesse Brinkley, and Edison Miranda. Glen Johnson is definitely of a higher quality than all 4 of those fighters(and Johnson was a much bigger win for Froch than AA in my opinion). It would be a good win, no question about it.

HOWEVER, and I said this with Froch as well (so don't tell me "oh well months later if Bute beats him he's an old finished fart), it would be a good win but it would be a fight he is supposed to win. That shouldn't detract from the win as much as put a ceiling on its value. It's not a toss up fight like say...Bute vs. Ward. It's a fight between a young star champion and an old veteran challenger.

IF Bute knocks Johnson out, it would be HUGE. I guarantee ESB would hype him out of the world if he KO'd Johnson (remember Devon Alexander vs Juan Urango).

Also, plenty of people were reluctant to have Johnson in the super 6. Why were they reluctant? Because he was 41 or 42 at the time and going down to a weight that he hadn't fought at in about a decade. The worry of course would be that he wasn't as effective at 168 as he was at 175. He IS alright especially for Bute as he has much more ability than the last several fighters Bute has faced.

Finally, I may be mistaken, but I believe Bute was invited to the Super 6(along with Kelly Pavlik)? I thought they both didn't go because they were fighting on HBO at the time?

    Good post.
    ----------------

No they haven't been invited. I can speak for Bute don't know the details on Pavlik. Ken H. the man who made the Super Six happen, has stated, immediately after the announcement of the tourney that Bute was not invited without giving up the reason why. Back then the rumor was that he though of them as to expensive, another rumor who was immediately denied by Interbox was that Bute didn't liked the round robin format of the tournament. When Bute signed with Showtime they said that the depth of their relationship wasn't good enuff:

Ah, thank you. I guess Pavlik was the one who was invited but turned it down because he was an HBO fighter.

Yeah Pavlik said something like "Let them fight for peanuts". But I still think he wasn't invaded either. Like I said I do not know the details on Kelly. About Bute Ken Hershman said it himself in the news conference announcing the Super Six :

I don't know. Bika vs Abraham might go to Sakio.

Johnson is as tough and grizzled as they come. Still, not an easy night for anyone.

Yeh, BeastSideBoxing corrected me on it. For some reason I thought he and Pavlik were invited.

Abraham is not on a higher level than Bika, Andrade and even Magee. If something, he's under those 3. His performances in the super 6 were very bad. I don't use the word often because haters use it all the time but Abraham was overhyped and was exposed.

He is not an excellent win on the resume of any of the 3 to have beaten him, as Johnson would be a good but not excellent win for Bute. Johnson is better than Abraham though.
