Somebody's already started a thread like this. Looks like he's coming out of retirement. Johnson's is never a easy fight and will be a good learning curve for Groves and a decent name on his resume. He should win however.
Yes, it would be pretty cool. What you see is what you get with Johnson. High guard, excellent jab, pays close attention to the body and looks for opportunities to land his laser guided right hand. Remember that he almost knocked Dawson out in both fights, beat Cloud despite what the judges thought and was fairly competitive with Froch. I wouldn't be shocked by an upset at all...
i know that johnson is getting up there in age, but this is a test for groves. he's no push over even at this stage of his career. groves has to focus for the full twelve rounds other wise he may come unstuck. trading with glen would also be stupid. big learning curve for george it seems. this should tell us a bit more about where he's at in the supermiddleweight division. can't wait.
It's a decent test for Groves. It should be a decent barometer to see if he's ready to move into the upper echelon of the division. I think he's ready to do just that. If Groves is looking for a tussle with Ward, this is a step in the right direction.
G Johnson is a SMW journeyman and has lost more at SMW than he has won. Groves should win with ease if he is going places
