hes shot beyond belief now...and i thought it would never happen but it did....hes aged big time and looks like ****
A tournament that gave us Abraham vs. Taylor, Froch vs. Dirrell, Abraham vs. Dirrell, Ward vs. Kessler, Froch vs. Kessler... PLUS upcoming Ward vs. Dirrell and Abraham vs. Froch.. This content is protected Never has one division had so many of their top 10 fighting eachother within such a small period of time... NEVER.
I'm not saying he's back to old form at all, I do agree he's lost a step or two, but I still think he would make people fight and make them work hard for a victory. Who you think would be a better replacement?
Oh really? In a similar amount of time: Bradley vs Peterson Alexander vs Urango Alexander vs Kotelnik Khan vs Kotelnik Khan vs Malignaggi Maidana vs Ortiz (I think he was top 10 at the time?) Go back just a bit further and you have: Hatton vs Pacquiao Hatton vs Malignaggi Maidana vs Kotelnik Bradley vs Holt w/ Bradley vs Alexander rumored and Khan vs Maidana on the horizon. No stupid tournament needed. You really think this has never happened before when it's happening right now?
never has so many top 10 contenders fought each other , that complain every chance they get, cry foul, bail out of fights, postpone fights, never conced they just lost... its a failure because Kessler is out, he is one of the main guys, green being a **** replacemnt for taylor, and bringing in a 41 year old replacement for him.... just do abrahanm vs froch ward - dirrell winner fight each other and whoever wins is the tourney champ
i just dont want to see a guy in there that is gonna be a pretty good work horse and do just enough to lose my choices Bute Dawson Pascal Pavlik Cloud Sturm
good post. no disrespect to Johnson, but he's not someone that has a realistic chance to win this tourney as the quick and slick Dawson made him look pretty ordinary in the second fight and gotta think GJ's gonna look worse at 168 at his age and given the presence of all these prime top 168ers (esp problematic will be dirrell and ward). He may do Ok w/ Green but may even be an underdog there to. So if the guy really isn't a threat to win, why bring him in? It sucks for Green, but he was a late sub anyway and blew his chance to make it appear that he belongs in the tourney. Just go to semi finals especially if there's no one willing and able and a threat to bring in.
The names I've highlighted will not join because they have upcoming bouts...Bute has to defend his crown against Jessie Brinkley...Pascal has a bout with Hopkins and I doubt he will turn that down to fight in the Super 6...Pavlik is fighting on the undercard of Pac\Margorcheato...And Dawson is probably gonna wait it out and rematch Pascal....Now I can agree with you Cloud but Sturm??? I honeslty doubt he'll take the opportunity. Cloud would be the best choice if he could drop down to 168 and be healthy.:good
I LOL'ed when I read the headline on the front page. In the words of Ed Lover, C'mon Son! And no, this tourney is not a failure yet. There have been setbacks, but if you didn't envision at least one or two, you were being short-sighted. It's such a shame that we have to go thru some of this stuff (postponements, etc...) as boxing fans, but such is the game.
Fair enough. Here, I'll fix it: Almost never has one division had so many of their top 10 fighting eachother within such a small period of time... ALMOST NEVER.
