Its not like we are talking some mediocre fighter like Gatti being inducted here, Johnson is an elite fighter and has been for several years. Once he retires he can be repayed by the boxing community and inducted into Canastota as payment for being mugged by judges so much in his career.
atsch You got to be a 15 year-old watching only fights televised in the US. If not, you've got serious problems.
I forgot to mention that he was IBF champ before beating Tarver who was the WBA and WBC champ, so he therefore became the undisputed lightheavyweight champion of the world (Yes, I know the idiots from the sanctioning bodies stripped them for facing each other). Besides that, he was named fighter of the year in 2005. If Diego Coralles or Joel Casamayor are going to the hall, Glen belongs there for sure. He shouldn't have more than 4 loses in his record.
2 years later...he continues to build his case. If he wins the Super 6, hes fighter of the year again.
No, he's the epitome of a solid workmanlike pro, but judging by this thread he's becoming thoroughly overestimated. Beaten clearly only once....
:dead What a digusting thread title atsch, and just shows how deluded the fans are with promotion. People want to keep up the BS that most of Johnsons losses were robberies, and some may well have been, but most werent, and lets not forget Johnsons decision over Tarver :-(. Johnson is a fighter with 14 losses and 2 draws who loses most of the time he steps up
I haven't given it much thought, but it would make for an interesting (and unique in today's era) case study. Let's face it, the record says no (even though he does have quite a few quality wins). However, if everybody fought 3-4 times a year, fought on foreign soil frequently, and fought pretty much all the relevant fighters not named Calzaghe (and isn't bitching about splits, fight locations, etc)...I think there would be a lot of uglier records instead of some of the "glistening" undefeated records we see. No matter what happens, he's a fighter that we know truly test himself, and if he doesn't make it in, he'll rest easy knowing he put himself in with the best.
No. He's a good solid fighter, but not HOF. They've let in too many unqualified fighters like Mancini and McGuigan already. And no, that shouldn't be justification for putting in MORE!
Too many have gone to HOF, it cuts down the meaning, but I have always liked Glen Johnson. He has been robbed of so many decisions, including the one against Cloud, first fight with Dawson, etc.
