Glen Johnson v. Chad Dawson - who won?

here's my round-by-round scoring
keep in mind that i had no financial incentive in the result (ie i didnt bet on this fight)

if the guy who hurt the other guy the most won the fight, then johnson would be the winner... but in the 10 pt must scoring system, dawson won the majority of the rounds in my book (7-5)

 

At least he showed aggression, right? Dawson was the recipient of an early Xmas gift, and even if you want to make a case for him winning the fight, it was never 8-4 in his favor.
The 10th round should have been scored 10-8 because Dawson was out on his feet, he was lucky to have survived that round.
I'll ask you this, when was the last time a close fight like this one, was scored identically by all 3 judges? I smell a rat, actually 3 of them...

 

Please note that judge Hidalgo, (first card on the left), had to switch name and corner color, because in the 11th round he went to the Commission table to say he didn't know who was who, he had made a mistake. However, his scores rhymed with the other 2 judges, even though he had the wrong guy.
How does one explain that? There are red flags flying all over that one... (in my humble opinion).

 

Just scored it today.

Dawson won rounds 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 12

Johnson 3, 5, 6, 10, 11

So I had it for Dawson 7 rounds to 5.

Round 12 could have gone to Johnson. But round 11 could have gone to Dawson IMO.

 

I had it all square at 6 all - although saying that i'm reluctant to give rounds all square.

116-112 x 3 - WTF ??

 

I felt Dawson had won a close but clear decision afterwards, but unfortunately I too was not scoring the fight. I will watch this again on youtube or somewhere and score it, then get back to you guys !

 

I had Glen up by one but re watched and now have Glen by two. Not a robbery but I think the wrong man got the nod.

 

So far, 97 people think GJ won while 69 people think Dawson won.

And to think, all 3 judges had it 116-112. :nut Talk about not being able to score a fight. Maybe the judges thought Dawson is cute or something. Who knows what they were thinking.

This fight is another JMM/Pacman 2 in the sense that while the fight was close in both instances, the majority of people still think the real winner got the short end of the stick.

These poll results are a great indication of just what real boxing fans think. These aren't just casual fans. These votes are mostly from people who seriously follow the sport. And the results speak for themselves.

 

I re watched the fight again last night and scored it the same as I did the first time 7-5 Dawson. Just because you hurt someone in a fight doesn't mean you win and many people think it does. Dawson's jab and his combo punching where the difference in this fight.

 

Yeah, those amazing combo punches which landed mostly on GJ's gloves and arms. :good

Give it up, Dawson won.

Anyone who's opinion that means a damn thing on ESB scored it for Dawson.

 

I'm sure you're right. Every person who voted for GJ are idiots while every person who voted for Dawson are the wise ones.
