i love glen johnson.the guy's paid his dues in a long career and been on the short end of some very dubious decisions, but come on...his inclusion in this competition is an absolute joke.johnson's best days are well behind him,and he now loses the 'big' ones, including his last one against cloud, where there was no controversy for a change.why,oh why did bute not get the call?this smacks of 'connections' to the right promoters to me.johnson just does not merit a place in this tournament at this late stage of his career, and i believe green will walk right through him in about 7 or 8...

I kinda agree with you that it really hurts the tournament, but as for Green walking through Johnson- That wont happen.

i think it is smart actually.

johnson and green will go the distance, meaning that the big 4 will likely progress and fight each other over 3 more fights.

I very much doubt Bute would have joined at this point. Why enter into a situation where you could win your fight and still be eliminated?

I'm not in the least bit surprised that Johnson accepted - he's a warrior who takes any fight offered to him but he struggled to make 175 last time out, so this seems like a recipe for disaster. No matter how bad he feels though, I doubt Green walks through him.

johnson was always gonna accept - the kudos and money on the table would be irresistible to any fighter...plus he no doubt thinks(a bit like holyfield)that his best days are still ahead of him!!!and make no mistake, green's no mug,as old glen will find out all too soon...

he was competitive with cloud. it all depends on how difficult it is for him to get down to 168

green is so far beyond pathetic. he's the only person i know of whose made an ENTIRE career off of a single win over a mediocre fighter. codrington. that's it. case closed

one win over a b-, c+ level fighter and he's in the tournament. green has done less than nothing in a career devoid of significant victories

sure,gj still knows his way around a ring, and can give a decent account of himself against any fighter in his weight class...but without there being any danger whatsoever of him actually beating anyone in the top ten anymore.which makes his inclusion in this supposed 'real' tournament of the elite in the division a complete travesty.even don king would cringe with embarrassment at a press conference trying to justify this, for ****s sake...

that's garbage.green's been the most avoided man in this division for 3 years.he'll batter the old man and have a more than decent chance against any of the others.

you cant be avoided when you havent earned the shot nor have any power at the negotiation table. he doesn't hold any good wins, is virtually unknown and has terribly overrated power. he can blame his kidney all he wants but he was schooled by miranda and has done nothing to warrant inclusiom. the ward loss confirms his status. but if he can take johnson and advance, who knows

Green is terrible. Had the other promoters not been scared of getting sued by he and his camp, they would have done the right thing and just called these next two fights the semis.
