I take it you havent seen the fight then? This is another myth which is perpetuated by some people. It was stopped with Sheika taking a hammering in the corner. Yeah he was badly cut, but he was stopped cos he was getting whooped.

No, but he is not in his own prime at the moment either. In terms of great fighters there's Hopkins (past his best admittedly) and then a host of good ones in Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Sheika, Brewer, Mitchell, Kessler, Lacy, Bika, Veit. Kessler certainly is not a nobody to anyone who follows boxing on the world stage, he was cutting a swath through super middle before Calzaghe having beaten Lucas, Andrade, Siaca, Mundine and Beyer inside two years.

 

Glen Johnson obviously doesn't understand what RJJ-Joe C is all about but then most don't. This is not about flags and flair, it's about technicalities that make you win rounds and what does Glen Johnson know about it? I still say that anybody who reduces JC to a slapper doesn't really know what to do in order to outbox him... That's Glen's case - he usually takes punches first and punches back strong. Bernard tried to outpunch Joe, blocking his right jab with his left glove, looking on to counter inside and falling into a clinch, presenting sides and angles so that Joe wouldn't pound away with both hands... Bernard didn't have the legs to stay away or the lungs to keep it up the same way he did for five rounds. Roy doesn't have much more but he's faster and he has good power with a one shot - he's not gonna have a good time or anything of that type since he'll have to throw much more than he has been doing.

Glen can talk a little bit more about Antonio and Chad since he fought both but nobody expects that fight to be fought on even terms. Tarver doesn't have the guts to dig deep and get tougher all of a sudden if the going gets tougher.

 

This is a flawed premise for a start as a fighter, any fighter, is quite obviously better than the fighters they beat. In terms of the wins for the above

Kessler - Siaca, Lucas, Andrade, Beyer, Mundine
Lacy - Vanderpool, Reid (shot admittedly), Cherifi, Pemberton
Sheika - Johnson, Ouellet, Butler
Woodhall - Branco (beat Johnson), Nardeillo, Malinga, Catley
Reid - Nardiello, Wharton, Cherifi
Brewer- Byrd, Pemberton, Whitaker, Graham
Mitchell - Liles, Siaca

Each of these has beaten numerous contenders, and when you beat the contenders it elevates you to a championship calibre fighter. When you beat them, it elevates you to an exceptional fighter.

 

You have to beat a champion to be a championship calibre fighter, how does beating up a bunch of C-level guys elevate you to A class. it might just mean your are a high C-level fighter or a B class fighter.

 

Ok so who out of this list never won a world title?
Kessler (wba & wbc)
Lacy (ibf)
Woodhall (wbc)
Reid (wbc)
Brewer (ibf)
Mitchell (wba)
I do believe that winning a world title makes you championship calibre.
It doesn't make you a p4p fighter but it does make you championship calibre.

hes telling the truth, you go ans ask any fighter and ask for a truthfull answer on calzaghe and it will be the same.... the way he looked in the hopkins fight you cant blame them he looked ****ing shyte, all he did was slap

Yeah they are titlist, but none of them were the champs of their division. Sadly, Calzaghe is the only one to dominate their division, and that shows just how bad it is.
