What a superb well thought out written post.:good The problem we have is the silly fans who believe everything that comes out of a boxers mouth pre fight. Wlad said he would KO Haye and make him his 50th KO victim but didn`t get any **** in the British press when it was obvious he didn`t have the ability to KO David Haye and was happy to get a decision. I think wankers like Steven Howard in The Sun have made themselves look idiots by backing Haye and convincing the clueless morons who read or listen to them that Wlad was an easy fight for Haye. McGuigan backed Haye big time on SKY pre fight and even demonstrated with Johnny Nelson in a 4ft ring how easy it was for Haye to win.Talk about dumbing the sport down to sell PPVs. McGuigan is guilty for being an idiot, he himself also put up one the most pathetic world title defences by a British fighter ever when he lost to Steve Cruz along with the worst excuse when he blamed Barney Eastwood for making him fight outdoors in Vegas when it was hot. McGuigan along with Mcrory also backed Hatton to beat Mayweather then both bitched and moaned about Joe Cortez saying he was responsible for Hatton getting knocked out. As for Mcrory didn`t he tell anyone who would listen that he would beat Lennox Lewis because he was too fast for him and was then completely outclassed and beaten up good and proper by a raw skinny Lennox Lewis who later struggled against Frank Bruno? I went to Germany for the Haye fight more in hope than expectation,I didn`t feel let down or think Haye was a disgrace who was pathetic on the night. As Haye pointed out himself on the night he wasn`t good enough but on another night he might be.
Two points. 1. McGuigan was having injury problems before the fight and was probably on the slide. The fight with Cruz was very close with only a round in it on two judges cards. The 125 degree heat excuse is week but having watched the fight at the time it was clear McGuigan was having uncharacteristic stamina problems which may have been a combination of things. 2. Haye did a lot more in the last few years than say 'I'm going to knock the bum out'. He has been a right twat.
If you discount for Wlad Povetkin Boytsov Wach Ustinov Adamek Huck Yoan Pablo Hernandez Helenius Solis Arreola Pulev Dimitrenko Seth Mitchell Perez Chisora kevin Johnson Francesco Pianeta Pala and for Vitali Povetkin Boytsov Ustinov Wach Chagaev Thompson Chambers Huck Yoan Pablo Hernandez Helenius Pulev Dimitrenko Seth Mitchell Perez Francesco Pianeta Pala Then yes, you are indeed correct.
Jesus that list of heavies almost made me sick just reading it. Shows what state the division is in these days.
He also got his toe out in the ring and more or less blamed his failure on the fact that his toe was hurt. An hour later in the press conference he stood on the table to show the bruised toe. I agree with your points on the likes of McGuigan and the backlash from the suckers who bought into the "Haye KO Wlad" fantasy. Spot on. But the problem for Haye is the general consensus from just about everyone (not least himself) that the heavyweight division is made up of low quality fighters this past 5 - 10 years. Haye has proven to be right in there among the mediocre bunch, not a stand-out at all. His heavyweight CV is quite weak. He's simply not good enough to fill the void in the division, so really he's been given far too much attention already. Maybe - to be generous -he's good enough to beat a 40-year-old Vitali now, but even that doesn't quite justify all the attention or credit Haye has received.
Damn, I bloody hate how anyone could watch that brawl, when Chisora attempted to have a bit of banter with a microphone in his hand, & a jealous Haye took a cheap shot & STILL couldnt knock out Chisora before ****ing off leaving his trainer behind & STILL THINK that Haye is anything other than a total arsewipe! If its a wind up post though, consider me caught hook line & ye proverbial sinker.
Chisora thought he was the 'Big Boy' - Haye put him firmly in his place. Chisora is a wife beating arsehole - credit where credit's due; Haye did the right thing imo.
