    If he had, Max Kellerman would have been calling him a quitter and giving him a bad reputation.

    Steve Smoger should have stopped the fight sooner, or Tapia's trainer should not have let him come out for the 5th round.

    The ref isnt there to rescue a boxer from his own stupidity? You sound like a dumb****... thats exactly one of their jobs, as is the corners.

    You havent a ****en clue.... how should it not be the third man in the rings job to save one of the fighters from taking too much punishment.

    Tapia is a kid who didnt want to quit in front of his family, friends, and girl.... and was too tough for his own good, and could have gotten seriously seriously injured had he made it much farther into the fight. Which given the string of tragedies lately, would have been another huge black eye for boxing. Yet you dont think the ref should have a shared responsibility to know when a fighter has had enough, despite their reluctance to verbally quit.

    Thankfully for boxing, a clueless keyboard warrior **** like you isnt a ref or a cornerman.
