Beat Eric Lucas and Markus Beyer before a bizzare loss to Dingaan Thebola (spelling?). Was allso robbed against Woodhall.
How good do people here think he was?

Very, very good. I thought he was a cracking fighter and his left hook was amazing. He is a forgotten champion.

He was a good fighter and you were right he was robbed in the Woodhall fight. He was a good solid world champion who people could respect. Working class guy i think a electrician by trade....i think everyone respected him and has good views on his career and him as a man.

He achieved to the maximum of his ability and maybe a bit more as well.

Just seen his 1st fight against Lucas, rather impressed. After a hesitant start he outboxed, punche and outworked Eric.
A few doubts about his punch resistance however.

Also wasn't there allegations of loaded glooves at the south african who took his title?

I thought that Catley was as tough as teak... he beat Ritchie Woodhall fair and square and Woodhall was open enough to admit it himself... there aint many fighters about today who would show another fighter the humility that he did...:good
