He went to jail for a year for robbery (& possibly assault) but when it cam to trail he got away with it.

Broner once said that during his year awaiting trail he prayed to God and promised that if he was spared sentencing he would dedicate his life to boxing!

God clearly saw this as a good deal and answered his prayers!

 

So thats how it works.

Quite common even over here, if you get refused bail or get put on remand, you spend the time leading up to the trial in jail, if you get convicted it comes off your sentence if you get acquitted then you get a tidy sum in compensation.

 

My mate was inside for 7 months awaiting trail, he was found not-guilty and received £12,000 compo. Pretty funny considering he actually did the crime...
