How good a fighter was Glenn McCrory? I know him from his commentary work but as his career finished the summer before I started secondary school I don't have any recollections of him when he was active. You can only tell so much by looking at someone's record.

No idea, detest him as a pundit though.

They based the Teletubbies on Glen McCory.

He wasn't a bad fighter to be fair to him, nothing special but solid, he didn't quite have the size or skill set to be a heavyweight contender in that era and done well to pick up a strap at crusierweight, Id pick him in a fight over Jhonny Nelson prime for prime put it that way.

Agree with this, all but the bit about beating Johnny Nelson, who I think would have given David Haye an argument(at cruiser).I remember Carl Thompsons manager, with Carl alongside him(would it be Jack Trickett?)trying to talk up a fight with Glenn in the studio when he was champ. That would have been interesting IMO.Glenn had a lot of heart and the ability to come back when behind,at cruiser especially.Him and Johnny have their friendly little spats in the studio, but people like Bill and me can only speculate on what would really have happened, based on what we saw in their primes.

At his best he was a world class fighter in a poor Cruiserweight division, at Heavyweight he struggled to even make an impression at the domestic level.

A few were suggesting Lumumba was the future of a post Holyfield Cruiserweight division, McCrory showed otherwise in a fine performance. Then after a gutsy win over a South African, McCrory lost the crown in an upset to American Journeyman Jeff Lampkin in a shockingly poor performance.

At Heavyweight, pre his 190lbs run, McCrory was often out of shape and although showed glimpses of ability, he never threatened to even crack the domestic level. After Lampkin, I got the feeling he was only interested in the pay day for Lewis.
